  1. Salt is the only additive I ever use in my tanks for treating any fish. It is fairly safe to use and in my opinion it does more good than bad. And its cheap.

    This or that

Both Aussie junk stores, Come to 100% (voted best service by fair go) can you tell where I work? I would say JB's, they sell CDs
  3. It should be Fairlady 240Z and Cherry 120Y
  4. Reddening around the gills is usually a sign of chemical burns of the gills. My guess would be Chlorine. Does your local supply get treated with chlorine normally? Wanganui water supply gets regularly dosed with chlorine but especially after large rainfall the council ups the chlorine levels. Our water supply is bore water.
  5. Chlorine in water? I doubt that residual soap on your hands would be enough to kill the fish but depends on what you use to wash the dishes. Always wash my hands with hand soap and rinse them before putting hands in my tanks. What were the fish the fish doing before they died? Flashing, Gulping air?
  6. Cheers for the link. Was good to watch
  7. Thanks. I had a look on the net last night but I found it hard to find any websites that have a good list of freshwater aquatic plants with names and pictures. Do you know of any?
  8. I concur Cories spread their eggs about the tank in bunches of two or three eggs rather than in one large group. Check under leaves of plants etc. I bet you will find more.
  9. Looking good. Has a peaceful feel to it. Might just have to watch that water sprite though. It will head to the surface before you know it.
  10. Yesterday I was 30, today I am 31, Go figure!! :yaw2:
  11. Looking good Ange. Thanks for showing us around today. I am very impressed with what you get to play with at work.
  12. Is it today we are bringing stuff to sell? I have some crypts, some other plants and a few other bits and bobs I will bring.

    Random worms!

Planaria most likely. A sign of over feeding or food getting left in substrate. Are they white? I wrote an article about them in Aquarium World a few issues back.
  14. Once the Geos grow up there wont be much left in the tank. I guarantee they will uproot the plants. No matter how much space you give a geo to dig it will always dig around hardware and plants. Its where the goodies in the water gather and the geos will dig it up. My plants in my geo tank are in pots. and still they dig the substrate from the pots.
  15. Time to replace it. Who know what its doing but why risk it. Heaters , in my opinion , are only good for a couple of years. Yes some will go for ages but I use caution and replace it before it dies and kills all my fish.
  16. Dont keep us in suspense. :spop: :slfg: the trouble with the mirror is that it will direct the light directly back. Need to be curved to spread the light around evenly. I played with mirrors. Not a pretty sight. :roey:
  17. @ 45 degrees you will probably end up with plants that resemble my Mothers cooked cabbage. It will be too hot for them. Some plants dont even like the high 20s. BUT, you try it and let us know :spop:
  18. That's pretty neat. Would be perfect for full tank shots in a busy tank,
  19. No one has mentioned the stink that the mess and pop will make.
  20. Is moisture a problem in that hood Jennifer?
