    I Googled. Looks like the rule of thumb is 10 gallons of tank for each black moor. So thats approximately 40 litres per fish.

    Alright then, how about this. I also have an AR620 (not the tall one) which is.. about 90 litres that currently has a bunch of pond snails? the little brown ones anyway. Was thinking about a large school of Cardinals say 16 or so, 1 bristlenose for algae control and 2 small loaches (zebra or dwarf) to deal to the snails. I was thinking that once the loaches were done decimating the snail population, I could transfer them to my AR850?

    Cats are lovely but can be so cruel. I know its just natural instinct, but... You did a good thing, what a horrible experience it must have been. Poor duck must have got hit by a car. Its a bad time of year for them, saw at least two that have been hit on my way to work this morning. I even saw a live one wandering across the road, of course I slowed down for it. I wonder if its because they are weighed down with eggs that they choose to walk rather than fly?

    Human waste on farms!? Are you sure about that? I know effluent is spread on dairy farms, that being the waste from cows.. but human? Awww.. I just ate some beef..

    Yes I realise that, I only have those odd numbers because the rest of their schools died. They all school together seemingly quite happily anyway. Turns out LFS doesn't have black neons in stock, and I wasn't happy with the glowlights they had and they only had 2 silvertips which I would actually, rather avoid now anyway as I found them a bit more agressive than the others. The tank has been set up for... 3 years or so

    November beetles?? In southland we have January beetles.. I wonder if they are the same thing..

    I have an Aqua One AR850 which is approx 150ish litres Current stock: 1 x rainbow shark 2 x zebra loaches 1 x Betta 2 x bristlenoses 1 x platy 1 x silvertip tetra 1 x glowlight tetra 3 x black neon tetra If i was to add say 10 neons would the tank be then overstocked?

    Aww Scotty is a lil cutie! This is our dog, Bob. Original owner named him Spongebob.. but can you imagine calling out to him?? He's about 6-7 years old and going grey a little bit under his chin. We're not 100% sure exactly what he is, previous owner told us hes black lab cross with something. He seems to have not got the fat genes from the lab side of things cos he is as skinny as! Favourite things: Running around, playing with soccer balls/sticks and food

    I have 2 Aqua One tanks, not had a Juwel tank. They are ok for me being a beginner I think. The AR850 in the lounge is noisy though. Dwalk, how did you convert your AR850 to an external filter?

    Thats what I was gonna say too. Same goes for the angels?? Also, angels get quite big don't they and aren't bumblebee gobys really small?? Wouldn't the angels (eventually) think of the gobys as a tasty snack?

    Or zebra loaches, they do a good job too and don't get nearly as big as a clown loach. And IMO you don't need a whole tribe of them. I only have two in my tank and they aren't shy. And they play nice with the rest of their tank mates. Apart from the siamese fighter, they just can't resist ocassionally nipping at his long flowing fins..

    When I had corys I noticed that they would just sit in one spot for ages, and then suddenly zip away.. so to me what you're describing sounds normal.

    Hehehe why is it that buckets of water are SO appealing to cats? My youngest just loves watching the water be siphoned out of the tank, has paws up on the top of the bucket looking in waiting for it to get to the top so she can paw at it.. silly cat. I have a bucket full of hoses, nets, siphon etc sitting next to the tank.. it got tipped over last night by a nosey cat. Good thing there was no water in it.

    Wow. I'm really sorry to hear this is happening. I wish I could help in some way, but being at the opposite end of the country, there is probably very little I could do, other than donate some $$..
