  1. Thanks, of course I'll have pics as soon as she arrives! By neutral do you mean off our property?
  2. Well our dog Bob is Black Lab Heading dog x (we're not 100% sure about the heading dog but, but he is definitely not a full lab). And Mum I believe is a Bull Mastif. Will clarify that when the neighbour comes over. So she's probably going to be a medium-large dog. I don't know how old puppy is yet, I haven't seen the mum for probably 3-4 weeks so I assume she's around that age. I think we are reasonably strict owners. We never let Bob roam the streets, if he's off his chain, he is supervised. We don't tolerate barking incessently. We've managed to train Bob to know that if he's barks excessively, we knock on the window and point, that means to shut up and get inside his kennel. He knows "up" means to jump up on to the deck of the ute. He knows "off" is to get off the deck of the ute. Exposing the puppy to kids could be a problem, we don't have any! But we have plenty of cats so thats not going to be a problem. We have a house on just over 1/4 acre in a small rural town, is that big enough?? We often take Bob to the reserve or the river for a big run around though. In regards to the training, I guess i want her to just be a well behaved dog. Not barking constantly or destroying things all over the show. Toileting in appropriate places, behaving while out walking etc. A short lead is one that is short?? I don't like those long ones that basically let the dog go all over the show. I like them to walk beside me.
  3. So I think its pretty much confirmed (without DNA testing of course) that our dog Bob, is the father of the neighbour's dog's puppies. I've been wanting another dog for a while now, although much preferring a smaller dog such as a Jack Russell or Fox Terrier. But anyway both hubby and I are feeling partially responsible for this lot of puppies, and had agreed to take one of the puppies if there was a girl available. So turns out there is a wee black girl and I think she's being dropped off to us in the weekend. Never had a puppy before, Bob came to us as an adult dog. But we're going to take her to puppy preschool/obedience training and all that so hopefully she turns into a well behaved dog. So what do I need? I've got a couple of toys, some puppy biscuits, and will get a collar/lead and bedding after work. I know that she needs to go to the vet for check and vaccinations and to be microchipped and registered with the DC. But what else? Any tips or advice would be great.
  4. Geez.. thats terrible. It doesn't even LOOK good, who wants to see the roots of a plant in a vase..
  5. She must want GHD's. They might be expensive but they are very good hair straighteners.
  6. Hahaha wish that worked for my mother-in-law. If we don't buy her christmas, birthday & mothers day gifts.. all hell breaks loose.
  7. Whats the Peace Lilly vase you heard about? It sounds pretty harmless.. unless of course its used as a fish bowl..
  8. Trouble is with people the way they are today its want now, have now. My generation is spoilt in that regard. Despite our parents best efforts to encourage us to wait and save for stuff that we want, so many have not learned. I admit I'm one of those.. but in saying that I take HP deals ONLY if they are interest free for a good long period during which time I will pay off the thing before the interest kicks in. I don't plan on going broke this Christmas. We manage to keep present buying to an absolute minimum. We buy for the parents, hubbys Granddad and each other. Thats it. No Aunts/uncles/cousins/siblings etc.
  9. How about moving south? Study what you want to do at SIT (Southern Institute of Technology). Zero fees and its cheap as living in Invercargill.. then move back to Nelson with your qualifications and try again. The SPCA down here is always looking for people to work.. although I think its volunteer work only.. not sure about that one. There seems to be plenty of jobs going down here at the moment.. in fact.. how do you feel about insurance and reception/office work??
  10. Yes.... but I reeeeeaaaallyy don't need them hahaa
  11. Last year we had a few trick or treaters.. and unfortunately for them, we were unprepared (well we tried to be prepared but we only had eftpos and the eftpos machine at the shop went down at the time we tried to buy some lollies). So this year my hubby bought a mountain of mackintosh toffees, minties and lollipops. Halloweeen we waited, and waited, and waited... no trick or treaters!!!
  12. Yeah sorry about that.. at the time I posted, it didn't occur to me that there might be actual aquarium displays in places other than shops.. silly me! We're staying around the Westpac Arena area..wherever that is! Haven't checked the map yet.
  13. Oh I just found out about Southern Encounter Aquarium & Kiwi House, is that any good?
  14. Thanks Caryl! Now I just need to figure out where they are in relation to where we are staying. We are definitly going to visit Willowbank while there so that one should be easy.
  15. I'm going to be in Christchurch over the weekend, just wondering anyone can recommend some good fish shops with some nice displays. I won't be buying anything, i just want to have a look. Cheers
  16. "Smithers, release the hounds" - Monty Burns (The Simpsons)
  17. I have two bristlenoses, they don't seem to bother with the dwarf sag.
  18. I love dressing up! Halloween is fun to dress up for but no one in our group of friends seems to be having a party this year.. despite it being a friends birthday today.. I haven't dressed up for anything at all this year but in previous years I've been: Felicity Shagwell (hubby went as Austin Powers) An angel A nun (hubby went as a priest. Oh the sister/father jokes we wore) and 3 times as a witch Oh and there was also a rock themed party i just dressed up as a sort of generic goth/rock chick
  19. Wow.. amazing photos, so clear and bright. Love the second one.. can you tell us what they are, cos I have no clue about marines.. except for clownfish.
  20. I'm pretty sure I read that as they crays get bigger they'll eat the small fish... From what I read, sounds like its best just to have one on its own. Thats what I'm gonna do.
  21. We have restrictions in place too. Trade Me used to be blocked to a point where you could click a button to access it but the usage would be monitored and recorded. But recently its become unblocked. I think its because it can be a useful tool for our company. I know i've used it a couple of times for work related things. Thing that bugs me though is like the managers and people who are regarded as senior get unlimted access to anything they want, the rest of us are restricted.. I just don't get why that is. All of the forums I frequent are blocked, apart from this one. No idea why because I'm sure that I'd NEVER find a work related use for this site!
  22. I think its fair enough if it was say some bubble wrap which you had to go out and buy, but a piece of wrinkled old brown paper and cardboard ripped off some random box you got from the supermarket is hardly good enough reason to charge packaging. Thats what I got. Its also fair enough if you state postage AND packaging on the auction, but in this case it wasn't. I believe I paid for tracked post and got normal post.
