  1. Ahhh I see. Without seeing it I can't say for sure what I would do.
  2. Are you able to upload the pic so we can see exactly how bad it is?
  3. lol seen this before but its still funny
  4. I fourth that opinion! When I started out with my 34L tank, upon the advice of the LFS I used a pH stabiliser. I was forever having problems, fish dying, masses of algae. Then on the advice of the wise people here, I quit using the pH stuff and problems disappeared.
  5. Its my birthday tomorrow, I turn 30... aaaaaaaahh! Anyway, when I got to work this morning my workmate presented me with a gift. I unwrapped it and inside was this: (Sorry bout the poor quality pics, but I was taking them with a camera thats not mine so not sure how to use it correctly.) I thought it was really neat! But severely overstocked and I'm gonna need to upgrade very soon to accommodate the 3 crocodiles.
  6. Haha I hate that too. A woman where I work says "think" instead of "thing". As in "Nothink was left". Same woman says "pacific" instead of "specific"
  7. I confess to using the dots... but the slashes? Whats that all about?// Here's what I've got to say. I would direct this at my parents but they'd probably take offence. Money is no good to you when you're dead. So spend it and enjoy it when you're alive!!! My idea of a holiday is not doing my normal everyday routine in a different location! And you can drink tea or coffee at other times of the day. Not just breakfast, 10am, lunch, 3pm, dinner and 10pm! Guess I'm just not one for routine.
  8. Yep. Not enough? I'm trying not to overfeed..
  9. Ooh hes pretty! Congratulations on the new addition.
  10. Do let us know how you get on. I'm particulary interested in this outcome since my loach may be suffering from the same thing. Did you just use a raw garlic clove?
  11. Well he is eating though, as was the other one... I could get one of my spare AR380s up & put him in there. Perhaps he needs more feedings? I only feed once every 3-4 days. bit of flake food for the tetras and some sinking pellets for the loach, bristlenoses & rainbow shark. Although once the flake food is gone, the naughty tetras go get the pellets..
  12. So this is what my Zebra loach may have had?? He got skinny and eventually died. Now his mate looks like he's following the same path!
  13. There could be a hundred reasons why it is swimming upside down. Swim bladder problems would be my first guess. Whatever it is, lying on the gravel upside down doesn't sound good. What are the fins like? Are the clamped close to its body? When trying to diagnose a problem, you have to give as much detail as possible. Size of tank, tankmates, whether you have done water tests and the results. Any other symptoms the fish might be displaying? How the other fish appear?
  14. Unsure if it is contagious. In my experience it didn't appear to be contagious. Only one fish in the tank died as a result of dropsy and his tankmates were fine. I believe that once they reach the pine cone stage, death isn't very far away but I'd put the little fella out of his misery anyway. And do a good water change too. Search this site too using dropsy as the keyword. There are heaps of topics including this most recent one > viewtopic.php?f=25&t=38060&hilit=dropsy
  15. Does it look kinda like a pine cone? If so its probably dropsy. There are treatments available, but from my experience and others I've read around here, the chances of survival are slim.
  16. Cute indeed!!! I think Mocha is a good name. What is it? A bovine of some description?
  17. Eh. I must have been doing it wrong. Oh well. The way I do it now works for me just fine.
  18. It wasn't the fish that were being bothered, I didn't like the way the pumping/shaking action would disturb all the debris sitting on the gravel. Bit hard to vacuum the stuff up when its floating around the tank! Maybe I was just doing it wrong..
  19. I used to use my husband for that. He quit after too many mouthfuls of water.
  20. Yep, my one packed up too. I just use a squeezy thing to get the syphon started now. Was never a fan of shaking the thing up & down to get the syphon started anyway.
  21. I recall seeing a post a while ago about someones corys dying after they had dosed with Flourish. I've searched for the topic but can't find it right now. Whats your substrate like?
