  1. Just reviving this post as I have a question. I've been preparing myself up for the huge task of adding a small terracotta pot or two to my tank. Will the terracotta alter pH or anything?
  2. I just googled "kill cockroaches naturally". There seemed to be some interesting ideas worth checking out such as using sugar & baking soda http://www.ehow.com/how_4453803_kill-ro ... aking.html
  3. No I did get the powerhead... just can't buy my husband's Hilux any rego this fortnight now hehe.
  4. Its black beard algae isn't it??? I tried all sorts of things to get rid of it. Gave up in the end. Kinda like the fluffy look now. Often see Bert (thats the Rainbow Shark) tugging on it. Not sure if he's eating it or what... Neither, I've only been waiting since I purchased my first 2 Zebra Loaches for the LFS to get some in. Thats like...2 + years. Only ever seen YoYos once. So even though it set me back like $72.00 (!!!) I took the opportunity and bought them all.
  5. Big Zebra Loach My original Zebra Loach and my Rainbow Shark (cos I think he's cool)
  6. Well I had a good weekend!! Went to my LFS to buy a powerhead and I came out with 2 x Zebra Loaches and 2 x YoYo Loaches. Super excited I was! Been waiting for aaaages for my LFS to get them in. They finally do and they don't even call me like they were supposed to! Anyway, got a few pics I thought I might share. Bear in mind that these fellas don't do a lot of sitting around hence the not so great quality of pics YoYo Loach Another YoYo Loach
  7. Yeah I heard this too. I have a AR620 (not the T) and it hasn't broken on me.
  8. Yeah, I agree that is a bit of a pain. And the straight scraper doesn't do curved corners so well..
  9. I've got a "Boyu" brand magnetic scrubber and find it quite useless. Best cleaning tool I ever bought was a long handled tool with interchangable heads. It has a scraper, scrubber, and a sort of slotted head that is good for scooping out dead fish. Cost nearly about $40 I think but its brilliant.
  10. Only 1 for me now. The powerhead on the other one failed so transfered all inhabitants (temporarily at that stage) to my AR850. Then I decided because the barbs made the tank so much more lively, to flag fixing the second tank because I couldn't be bothered going 2 x water changes so have decided to do a really nice thing. I'm buy the replacement parts required and then give it away to the neighbour's kid who currently has 3 goldfish in a bowl of probably less than 5 litre capacity.
  11. I want a Red Panda!! Too cute! Great pics
  12. I saw it last night. Not sure what the fuss is all about. Two odd looking children raising their eyebrows to music? .... yeah seen funnier ads.
  13. Thats interesting.. why does the high glucose levels kill female embryos only?
  14. I know this from experience that bringing a tank up to temperature quickly will most likely harm if not kill the fish. Best thing you can do is plug the heater back in and leave it.
  15. Wouldn't an AR380 be a bit small for goldfish?
  16. Loaches are probably my fav, Clowns would be my favourite loach. But I do like my Rainbow Shark too.
  17. Oh thats ok then. cos I was just gonna say you can send 'em my way.
  18. I bought 2 a couple of years ago, they rid my tank of snails within two weeks.. so.... give it some time. I guess it will depend on how large your tank is and how bad the infestation is but.. as Rachel Hunter says, "It won't happen overnight but it will happen!"
  19. How do you know you need to raise the pH of your water? You said you only have a high range pH test..
  20. Wow, well done. I can't imagine it would have been an easy thing to do. Glad to hear she is ok.
  21. I googled and found this. Carassius auratus http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm ... 2&aid=2503
  22. lol It could be anything. I have seen some pretty strange (and stupid) names in there. No idea where they get them from. Golden Sucker Cats anyone??
