i am a huge fan of Takashi Amano when it comes to planted aquariums so i like a good carpeting plant that covers everything . hair grass would be a good one if ur looking at having live bearers plenty of places to hide in the grass.
get aqua mix from ur garden centre is the best and cheapest option $10 a bag and couple of bags should be more than enough.
never get why ppl want dim lights :-? if u want a well planted tank good lighting is a must even when when certain plants grow in low lights they will thrive under good lighting. with good lighting u can get away without using any CO2 system.
u can differently see the difference in the color the 14K has more of a blue/purple tinge to it compare to the new bulb which seem to be a lot whiter and penetrates deeper too but that mite be because the 14K was getting too old?
nice looking boy u got there striking metallic color. too bad we dont get much HM here, we hardly get any decent CTs
i use to breed solid blue and opaque white DTs, love them but takes so much room and small tanks when breeding.
thanks guys, my thoughts exactly its pretty unreal. it wasn't two clutch of eggs after all but one huge one cuz this morning the other female added to that clutch of eggs :bounce:
this is the pic from one end and this clutch runs for a good 2 inch not really sure how many eggs but judging by the size and the size of eggs i use to get its around the 200 mark easy
sounds like a winner
would go with some subtract like mystic is suggesting and a strong flow is great, 150 LPH is not too strong at all for a 2 foot = 50Litre? i have a 1000L/H flow in my 2 foot breeding GBAs. wont bother with the pots just a lot of drift wood would be perfect.
let us know how it goes
are u just talking about the common pleco? there is all sort of different color and patterns. here is an high fin

i do love how there is so many things goin on and all those fancy pleco.
but no ur quit right seth its too crowded thats why we're saying it would look great in a 12 foot, 10 foot so on.
i use to make my own out of fine mesh plastic tralice [spelling] u buy off the roll in garden centres, just heat it and it sets hard but they're really not that expensive now.

i use this its very easy to cut down to size.
is the second 200watt heater really necessary?
nitrate high, over feeding? plants decaying......humm..
would try evil's method but maybe not as high as 30 degrees depending on what the temperature is at the moment.
that really depends on what the ph is to start with and how big the tank is in ratio of amount of crush sells u use but u can raise it to off the cart if u really wanted to[over 8]
with plecos its not really the age that determine when they start breeding but size. BN usually starts breeding around 6-7cm.
condition the BN with plenty of food and once the female looks nice and fat do cold water change [enough to actually make a different in temperature] this really works for most fish.
male have bristle up to nose female have then just around the lip if any.
if they're in a community tank they mite not breed at all if the male dont feel safe enough.
