  1. they can be in water for as long as they want as long they have the option of leaving it when they want to. if there is no sun or good lighting for them to bask in they generally don't come out of the water. turtle are not like fish u cant really over feed them they stop eating when they get full. however they're like human and can get over weight so have a balance diet and make them work for their food.
  2. :bounce: welcome Saxsena :bounce: hope ur bettas are not keep in "betta tanks" or as i call then cups
  3. yep fitting are all the same just bigger bottle. sold my to matthew just last week and he was already running one the same size.
  4. WOW that sound amazing Alan, always wanted to go and now i am differently goin.
  5. thanks guys pics are actually better than they look here as i had to reduce the quality for easy posting. great experience and stuff like this really keep the hobby going
  6. just a few more pics to finish up this post. at one stage about a 1/3 of the eggs fell out so i put it in a breeding trap with an air stone. this is the clutch that got separated from the rest. estimation at the time was around 50. this clutch hatched earlier than the rest of the egg the males was fanning. reason unknown but was concerned for the rest of the eggs at this stage. for ppl unfamiliar with breeding plecos the brown stuff at the back are empty egg shells. under estimated the clutch of eggs now thinking maybe 100+ also the lot with the fathers hatched the day later, but now one male has left it for the other to look after by himself. the pictures above are still just from that 1/3 of a clutch. now at a quick count [as accurate as i can with them wiggling around] well in the 200 mark. try and have a go counting them from the pic lost over 10 after hatching due to maybe bad water condition but have since then no problems. they have all now absorb their egg yoke so all removed from the dad.
  7. job well done mate i was getting scared for u just reading it. all i can say is they're lucky to be ur fish.
  8. u got black polostyrene? where did u get that
  9. just use pumas, u can get them all different sizes in landscaping yards where they sell by the cubic meter. go and have a hunt for the "special" shapes that u want and no not all pumas float u can get different dense grade.
  10. i am confused :-? what are u trying to make? are u trying to make some like wight rocks for display in ur tank rather than just normal rocks?
  11. nope, leave them as is if they have long nails its because they're male and they use this in the mating courtship. DO NOT cut their nails as they would bleed and its hard for them to heal any sort of cuts as they spend most of the time in water.
  12. 30 inch/1.5foot tubes?? thats a funny size tube i never seen one like it. i am surprised u found tubes for them in the first place.
  13. basically what AMAZONIAN had said, it will be slower at turning over the water. wont matter though it just getting it that extra clean going though the fine wool which at the end will give u the same result.
  14. are we talking about a HOB filter ? if so yes filter wool would be fine i've seen a lot of ppl done this before but it would slow the turn over. i just have a large sponge filter on mu 50L
  15. do they look like this? [stuff on the rocks in the circle]
  16. nooooo if u like ur fish dont put it in a container its worse than having gold fish in a fish bowl. sure it would keep them alive for a good while but they sure wouldn't be happy. people can live in a dirty old jail cell but we sure dont like it, at least i wouldn't  do research before buying any fish give it the right set up they deserve
  17. u already had great photos but these are great. fantastic focus
  18. oooooooooooo nice looking toy u got there boi......lucky
  19. yep, i thought so, keep an close eye on the females u may have to remove a couple if they start looking tired or wedge themselves in places trying to get away. silly fishies :-?
  20. just checked my aquaone and Ehiem and both same around 6cm inside. i would go with the drawing above. good job by the way SpidersWeb

reminds me when i went to Taiwan last x-mas and saw small baby ghost knife also around 6cm selling for equivalent $5NZ each and by 5 get 2 free . i was certain it was labeled wrong so i asked the shop keeper and he explains that they breed them and a spawn can be close to a thousand. here me thinking he is full of himself as i've never heard of captive breeding then he took me around back and show me his HUGE breeding set up just like he said amongst them was thousands of baby ghost knife and got to see the parents too. apparently its not that uncommon among his group of fish buddys then again these guys breed fancy Asian Arowana and line breed fresh water stingrays. just thought i share
  23. good on ya beachy, hope it works for u too. try removing as much as possible physically and keep the water oxygen level high [ i know i keep saying this its because i dont want u to loose ur royal]
