  1. i've just measured some of my tubes out of 2 foot fittings and they measure just under 59cm not including the prongs. some of them labled 24 inch some 23inch but they all fit and work fine. [all aquaone fittings] i've got heaps of new ones if u want to try them out.
  2. OMG thats was half the size of my swimming pool. hummmm i guess i dont really need to eat right? so am i right in saying acrylic tanks are more expensive than glass ones? what is the smallest tank u ever made?

    heat packs

how many are u after i can sell u a couple from my stash $1 each and $1 to send. http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/for-sa ... 16099.html
  4. love it when u post pics tank man, it keeps me dreaming around how many litres is this goin to hold? and what sort of $$ are we looking at if u dont mind me asking
  5. 3 inches is too high for Eleocharis parvula, even with MH light and co2 it will only reach 5 cm at the very very max height. i've just sold or and gave away most of my Echinodorus tenellus as its just too tall and not tense enough which is what i like. u have been pmd cesar
  6. yep, dont bother with anything else just VERY clean water and dose with Melafix, do frequent water change everyday if u can and remember to redoes with melafix for the amount of water ur putting back in. goldfish are very fast healers and will be back it its old self in a week.
  7. a tank that size would need its own foundation. well over 5 tonne
  8. looks stunning, very simple and effective. how u finding that filter?

    good luck http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pe ... 436771.htm
  10. yeah it was a pretty sweet deal, its all brand new but second hand as the guy ran in to some financial problem right after he bought the set up and needed the money. cost him close to $800 but u can pick second hand ones up for around $200 on trademe.
  11. saw one on the monstertank site where a marine was built out side and it looked fantastic
  12. hay timtam cool little set up u got there, where is the over flow?
  13. gosh wouldn't mind getting my hand on that article
  14. they're all reasonably small fish so as long as the tank is well aerated and plenty of place for them to hide around eg plants, rocks and driftwood to make the feel safe and not stressed u should be able to have a lot more. my 3 foot which is just over 200L has at the moment 15 zebra danio, 15 pearl danio, 10 young kribs, fire eel, 2 breeding pair of convict one striped one white [trying very hard to catch these out as they're creating havoc  ] which means hundreds of frys, breeding pair of BN and some random guppies and killies. so what else do u want in ur tank?
  15. OMG and this tank is set up at ur place right now warren???
  16. no i mean a proper system made for aquarium plant keeping. my set up is Eheim pressure regulator with manometer, fine control needle valve, bottle and glass coil diffuser.
  17. i've used both DIY yeast system and soda stream. DIY system yeast = $8 air tube = $2/m air stone or proper diffuser = $0.40 to $80 warm water sugar 2.25 coke bottle i find it pretty useless as it is only consistent for the first two days and u need to keep shaking the bottle after that and only last about a week or so. very cheap option but not a great result although u do see some different with the plants. soda stream bottle small to large = $10 = $100 [price from second hand to brand new big bottle] regulator = $75 needle valve = $10 - $25 diffuser = $40+ air hose = $2/m - $20/m this is pretty good system but still some hassle of getting the regulator on every time u fill the bottle up as u will loose some CO2 as ur doing this. best thing about this is the large bottles i used 850g+ which is bigger than any bottle made for a aquarium co2 system i've just now bought a proper system costing around $300 all up and is by far the most hassle free and reliable system.
  18. big hardware stores like "mitre 10" or plastic places like "payless plastics"
  19. well from my experience the ones i got from the beach and put straight in to water took couple of month and the ones i thought I'll be smart and actually leave them out to dry in the sun took well over 6 month to sink.

  22. thanks for that, so i need more light my leafs are palm size [just measured one 21cm] but most of them keeps going to the surface. anyone else notice the ones make it to the top are bright red underneath? u can get them at hollywood and jansens.

what i would do is first get rid of the under ground filter and just get a proper filter. my 250L runs on a Eheim aquaball 2212 and its crystal clear. or if u can afford it a canister, silent
