  1. been searching on line for ya and it may be L088 http://atlas.drpez.org/Ancistrus-sp-L088-fotos http://www.catfishworld.tk/
  2. didnt have a proper look when i was there but it will be one of these three. Ancistrus sp black (G1:19 L032) [s43032] "Black Araguaia Ancistrus" Ancistrus sp black '1' (G1:29 L059b) [s43059b] "Black Ancistrus" Ancistrus sp black Brazil (G1:19 L032a) [s43032a] "Black Brazil Ancistrus"
  3. guess they must have been stressed when i saw them but i did notice the blue eyes. did u buy the pair at Jansens? let us know when they start breeding, i am intrested to know what the young looks like as i was told they start with spots.
  4. nope, they dont look that flash. i was hoping they would be jet black.
  5. 1. Are they the same? assuming u mean common pleco like redspot and BN then no. but BN is a type of pleco 2. How big do they grow? common 30cm+ BN 12cm MAX 3. What are some nice but reasonably priced ones? retail price = common from $10 at 10cm BN at $2 from 3cm 4. Can a M/F pair live together happily? yes and can be breed in captivity 5. What do they need? I know they need some driftwood, and probably a cave of some sort. But anything else? clean water and be feed not just living off algae and left overs 6. What should I feed them? Cucumber everyday? u can buy sinking food especially for plecos. they also eat bloodworm, shrimp pellets.......etc 7. If anyone wants to sell me some, please post a picture or something. i only have GBA/golden BN for sale. [one on the left]

    Sand..

yep quartz sand is fine but looks nasty as it impossible to keep clean. iron sand sounds cool but never tried it before
  7. do u have good woodworking skills and have all the necessary tools? if u don't i wouldn't bother making it yourself. $250 would only cover the material at a good discount unless u go for MDF. i know of a few of places that mite able to do it for around $500. u've been PMd
  8. good job rcon crossing my fingers for ya. but i like ur Arcuatus and fluorescent gold better. any luck with those?
  9. Osram and Sylvania are the same thing. ["Osram Sylvania" is the full name] i am unaware they do 6500K DE bulbs. i only ever used 150watt so i know they only do 150 watt in warm white and neutral white 4200K. correct me if i am wrong. [i hope i am as Osram bulbs are great 10000Hour lifetime] what can u get down there? i'll be needing more in about 3 month time so any info would be great.
  10. different brand of bulbs have different average bulb life [its should be on the packet/box or just simply Google the product] BLV have average life of 6000Hours. u would think so but they stock very different bulbs then what we normally use for aquariums. lamp specialist dont stock bulbs in the K we're after as its not commonly used for anything else and the ppl that do stock MH bulbs for aquarium use are normally selling to the saltys which don't really use anything under 10000K.
  11. sorry cant help u with ur problem. but just want to say what an unique idea for a tank set up. cant wait to see how that goes. u obviously done a lot of research on it. how would u go about sealing the tank and locking the lids down so the octopus doesn't escape? if u haven't already u should give kelly telton a call to see what are some of the things to look out for when setting up an octopus tank as i know they have one on display. the problem they cant get around is they're very strong and can fit though any hole the size of their beak. they only keep the young ones until it gets too strong and then they release and replace it.
  12. BLV is the brand http://www.blv.co.uk/10000%20k%20lamps.htm http://www.blv.co.uk/
  13. yeah Aihua is a well known brand but a cheap one. i dont find them consistent in terms of quality. try BLV i find them great.
  14. what brand of bulb was that Ant?
  15. yep use 6500K 150W hard to get these days and haven't seen one for a while. ur second best option is 10 000K i get good growth with it, actually i find it much more pleasing color to look at for a tank. 14 000 and 20 000K are no good as they're basically purple/blue color.
  16. koi are in NZ but illegal to keep. there is also shubunkins
  17. veiltail = fantails just longer fins. they do great in cold water as they tend to be lazy and sit at the bottom of the pond and get fin rot. with cold water they're less likely to get it. reason proper fancy goldfish don't do well in cold water as they're internal organs are so deformed and distorted from selective breeding to get to this "egg shape".
  18. doesnt get much cheaper than this http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Ki ... 754942.htm
  19. i am bias as i dont like jebo very much at all. i like the Aquaone stuff as i find them to be very good value. but if i have $$ to spend i would go with eheim or fluval. Aquaone CF1000 $120 CF1200 $140
  20. that makes me feels worse as i dont know how i can fix it or if its goin to happen again. how thick was the poly and the glass of that tank?
  21. anyone else? i know there is more out here rcon021
  22. ouh no thats horrible man. from memory all ur tanks are on sturdy stands and with poly. do u know what went wrong?
  23. first u would need to answer these questions how reliable? 2 year warranty ...etc regulator with pressure gage? needle valve separate or build in to regulator? what type of air tube? proper or just normal air line. type of bottle? reactor as in diffuser? if so what type...... glass, coil, ladder, ceramic....etc
