    Wok's fish

Very nice Wok! And those Chocs look fantastic
  3. Hi again chickiejo Limestone rockwork looks great in an African tank if you are wanting to keep Africans. A heap of little caves and areas they can sit in so they feel at home. Also if you are wanting to keep Africans it also helps to buffer the water for them as this is what their preferred conditons are.. Good old Frenchy gave me a do it yourself recipe to help buffer the water instead of having to go out and buy the hideously expensive stuff from the shops That will safe some pennys 8) What Africans do you currently have? If they are Lake species I would recommend alot more rock work..
  4. Looking good chickiejo, what sort of fish do you keep? Are you going for live planted tank? I see you have a Plec in there? Good looking chappy but he might munch your plants if they aren't silk ones
  5. The short doco I saw was on You Tube.. it was a wild cat sactuary for abused and neglected and unwanted tigers, from past zoos and ex circus performers :-? He actually went into depth about the White Tiger and its genetic weaknesses etc Here is a link to White Tiger info.. http://www.bigcatrescue.org/white_tigers.htm And yeah the platties are doing just great! Little boy loves them
  6. I couldn't agree more Rozski, I also think it's wrong, if they were meant to breed together in nature, they would be from the same districts... not a practice that should be encouraged but sadly it is, same goes with the White Tiger, they shouldn't be bred from, they are majorly genetically weak, watched a short doco of a wild cat sanctuary in the states and a keeper went into depth on the White Tiger...
  7. Sorry to hear of your loss, and yeah cycling your tank is most important There is a Livebearer section on the forums, where you can post with any sorts of issues in regards to guppies etc, neat thread I am not huge on livebearers but somebody here would be sure to jump in and help! Good Luck
  8. Welcome to the Forums You will love this place, a real hive of info... What are you have trouble with?
  9. This is the result... Liger http://www.liger.org/ And check out this BIG fellow.. http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/bl_liger_hercules.htm
  10. Very cute Hazara... Glad to see another Ginga Cat keeper
  11. I have only ever had whitespot 3 times.. and like Frenchy, it has always been after introduction of a new fish.. but had never given it a chance to take off.. nipped it straight away..
  12. I bump the temp up to around 28 and it zaps it quick.. also extra airation can help and of course a bit of tonic salt.
  13. Cunning, he gave the fry a false sense of security then scooby snacked them later on.. crafty fish
  14. At my hubbys work they have black ribbed tubing, for the bristles and they sink it into the gravel, and it flexible... I am sure you can find it at most Farmlands type stores.. and I am pretty sure it comes in different sizes/thickness...
  15. Maybe hes in a midlife crisis and having some sort of flirtation...
  16. And here is the pic of him after he made a few changes.. he obviously wasn't happy with the way his house was so made some renovations.... You can see his little nose poking out.. (we have left the shell like it, wouldn't dare tamper) I think he likes to trick the other Lelus into thinking it's a safe area.. so he can hide and ambush, only other Lelus around it seem to bother him, the Frons and comps etc are allowed to float past and he's quite happy about that.. He's a bit of a recluse..

    a shark tank?

I could only imagine the size grow out tank you would need to grow them up, and not to mention a huge chiller unit to keep it cold enough for them to survive... Are there any known private shark tanks in NZ?

    a shark tank?

I can see myself quite happily housing a Great White myself... ho hum   Only a shame I have a shark phobia... of which I am working on  I am sure the National Aquarium would have some great info on requirements... however the money involved etc would be through the roof I would imagine, and not to mention space.. merely impossible unless you are someone like Donald Trump with heaps of pingas
  19. I have a big Chocolate Cichlid breeding pair... I had them housed out at my hubbys work in the 1500 litre display tank and a female severum took interest in the Chocolate Cichlid male, as far as I know as I have been told... they can breed together, YIKES My Chocolate pair are currently on lend to a guy who wants to breed them. So thankfully no Sev x Chocs even had a chance of being produced
  20. I keep my White whipstails in with fancy plecs and the odd Bristle.. they seem fine and dandy... Never had any problems.
  21. Congrats on your first stripping 9 is a good number to start out with, awesome... 8) She could well have some left in her mouth still I feed my young decapsulated brine shrimp, fine crushed flake and spirulina mix...
  22. I never had a problem with mine, as I didn't have the breeding nets in the tanks with the adult fish, only with larger but still relatively small grow outs, maybe that's why I never had fatalities..
  23. Fievels007 - Are they little Red Ramshorns snails? If so, they shouldn't touch your plants, I used to have some in a tank ages ago that came on some plant that I purchased at a club auction, and they never touched any of my plants, as in eating them.
