  1. No losses here *touch wood*, box of fluffy ducklings here Growing, love frozen Daphnia, curbing the treats as I don't want them turning into fuss pots
  2. I think under warranty you shouldn't have to fit the bill to have replacement pieces sent.. good luck and yeah keep us posted And yeah Aqua One filters are excellent, once you have it sussed you will love it!
  3. Ahhhh YIKES :-? Have you got a LFS who could order pieces off the Aqua One rep?
  4. Afrikan

    hi from chch

Hi There Non CHCH here but welcome to the forums anyway! You will love it here There are rather a few CHCH keepers...
  5. Welcome to the forums, you will love it here
  6. Check hosing mounted properly, as it can leak water if not... Do you have any stores that could possibly get a piece from reps? If you end up needing to...
  7. Lelus are even more so aggressive... My brichardi pairs are a box of birds with one another infact they are rather peaceful with each other when paired. The key is plenty of rock work, is that the only size tank you have snookie?
  8. That's 54 litres.. Haven't seen any true shell dwellers around, however, maybe someone has some hidden out there somewhere
  9. On cichlid forums snookie there are people that have 10 or so Dems in a 29 Gallon tank (roughly 110 litres) However they are juvs at this stage.. so hopefully as they mature they will stay settled. Time will tell What are the dimensions of you tank? Litres? Sorry no Coke snookie  Here is a link for shell dwellers: http://www.cichlidrecipe.com/shellweb/shell_species.htm
  10. I have read alot of conflicting overseas info stating they need a good sized tank, I wouldn't dream of putting 12 of mine in a 2 foot tank, prior to the 18 we have now, I had a fair few in a just over 2ft tank, and rather a few got cleaned up. A nice pair of Lelu would go nice.. they are another fish that is underated  I think alot of things come down to trial and error, sometimes things work, sometimes they don't.
  11. Oh awesome!!! Keep us posted on the little blighter
  12. Males have longer fin extension and I have found the males are larger than females. Umm nothing really comes to mind snookie with what's available and anything that will stay small enough for that size tank. Most Africans need space for territory, if you are going to be keeping a group of anything.. For example the Malawi Ps. Demasoni... they are a small Pseudo but because they are territorial and rather aggressive you have to keep a decent number and they need a reasonable size tank because of territory issues. They are a very nice fish however That's generally the rule anyway 8) JMHO
  13. Awesome Faran, that's really good going!! Good on ya Looking very cute.. 8)
  14. A nice pair of Brichardi would go well, and eventually when they spawn, they raise their young and it becomes a community.. mine have just done this, and I am going to leave them to raise their fry, will be amazing to watch them through the progress, they seem like excellent parents so far. My guys are in a big enough tank so will be able to keep the whole clan  These little Tangs are definately underated in my opinion. http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/n_brichardi.php I have some young adults if you are ever after a pair.
  15. This is a great place to, I have photobucket and this one.. http://www.picturetrail.com/
  16. 278 litres.. Reasonable size... I wouldn't go with anything that gets too large as the tank is only 38 wide, silver dollars are nice but can be very skittish. We have a Green Terror only a young guy but they can get highly aggressive, this one is only small and with his previous owner he had already tried to take out a Jag and killed a Blue Acara. How about a couple of nice Synos? And in fact some nice Blue Acaras? And yeah firemouths would be nice.
  17. Oh ok chimera.. they are pretty huh  Mooloo - I could quite possibly get you some bits and pieces, would need to know what you are after? The guy has such a broad selection that it might pay for you to come up with some idea on what large shells you would like, and I can see if I can get some... and it is at a local market He only polishes them on a buffer, doesn't put anything on them, keeps them natural.
  18. What a shame, they are gorgeous Umm no I brought it along with some Sea Eggs and some other beautiful shells... The guy that sells them here at the market has an amazing selection
  19. I think it pays to see how these ones develop, to be honest I don't like the artificial colouring of the dark red one that kyle posted... looks like its been fed up on karotene..
  20. That's why I am not going by the overseas pics with the lot that came in, cause at this stage I haven't seen any like that  However I am happy with the way my dominant male is colouring, very nice.
  21. Tiger Barbs in a large school generally keep to themselves, however the odd one can be a bit nippy towards other tank mates, but generally normally if you keep them in a large enough school they just harass each other  They are a beautiful fish I reckon..
  22. Oh cool look forward to seeing pics of your guys My biggest male is colouring really nice, (however still not like the Blood Red one shown above) colours especially when hes interested in the ladies
  23. Thanks so much.. do people keep these things in their saltwater tanks at all, live of course?
  24. Thats a male fish... however there have been different pics shown of this fish overseas, so you can't determine exactly what they are going to be, we can only go by what was sent here and on how they will turn out... The females are a creamy white in colour... My male at the moment is showing blues and yellows and a hint of red, but I can't say he will end up anything like the pic shown above... due to the fact that we don't know what was sent and whether this Hybrid is defined in colouration I guess... or possibly we have a variant?
  25. I have seen different examples to that Kyle, and to be honest, I don't see my ones ever looking like that, but we will see
