  1. The Dad will look after the fry until they are around 2 weeks old. Then they will leave the cave and they are on their own. I have a breeding pair in a Community tank and I remove the fry into another tank at day 12. If the fry are left in the tank with your Angels you I think you can count on most of them being eaten. If theres enough hiding places one or two may survive.
  2. I'd seen it but never taken the time to read it.....its interesting. Cheers Fishman
  3. Perhaps you're right...the interest can cripple ya!!
  4. You could cut the leaves off and put them in the container. Maybe you could scrape the ones off the glass with a credit card and catch them in a net? Just guessing.
  5. I agree with Bananalobster and OscarBoy. My money is on the Corys. The BNs are cave spawners and I'm pretty sure Apistos are too.

    Hi all

    Welcome Mrs Frog
  7. You're right. Its a good idea to reduce the amount of food for a while. A small feed every second day won't hurt them.
  8. Hi. It sounds as if your tank is going through an ammonia spike...which is normal. Your filters haven't got a good population of bacteria yet. Its the bacteria in a mature tank that take care of ammonia and nitrites . Until then its up to you to control them with water changes. The ammonia will continue to climb for a while and then the tank will experience a climb in Nitrites as the ammonia drops off....you should do 25% water changes every 2 or 3 days to keep the ammonia and Nitrite levels down. I suggest an investment in a test kit. You did nothing wrong by adding three fish....the fish waste produces the ammonia which feeds the bacteria.
  9. Hi Evie. Welcome to the forum. I don't know anything about PM water but I wouldn't worry about the pH too much. How long has the tank been set up?How often are you doing water changes? What were the 'greebies' that Animates test showed up? Did they tell you the Ammonia levels? Nitrite levels? I'm thinking that your tank is cycling and with regular water changes things will come right.
  10. Nice setup. Welcome to the forum
  11. Nice Bucket'O'Fish I get 147 or 148.
  12. Sweet as Ryan. How big do you want them to be before I ship 'em?
  13. Hot off the hard drive
  14. I transfer the mothers into their own tank and leave them to spit in their own time. The egg in the pic was scooped up within an hour. Yeah they are. I've got two broods in a grow out tank. The oldest (17) are 25-30mm and they younger ones (22) are around 15mm.
  15. Hi all. I was transfering a female Peacock into a nursery tank a few weeks ago and she dropped this half developed egg. I thought it might be interesting to some to see a pic.
  16. Hi Bianca and Ben. Welcome to the forum.
  17. Organism is a must. I've had no experience shipping fish , so people can correct me if necessary but I think a 5 hour trip should be OK. People ship fish from one end of the country to the other and imported fish are in transit for who knows how long. See if you can get one of those small polystyrene boxes or a small chilly bin to reduce heat loss. Even wrapping the fish bag in a towel would help. Tell the LFS that the fish are in for a journey and ask for a larger than normal bag, or bags  to maximise the water / fish ratio.
