  1. Welcome to the forum. :bounce: Thanks for the pics, very cool.
  2. I don't know what they are but a fish or two would probably get rid of them.

  4. I suck to start the siphon. After a while you get to know when to stop sucking before getting a mouthfull of tank water by the change in pressure i.e. it becomes easier to suck because the waters flowing.
  5. Hi. I have no experience myself but a couple of my mates have given it a go and they started with RC gliders. They fly them somewhere around Godley Heads. They are made of foam and can be repaired with tape.
  6. Hands up if you've ever found a desiccated fish behind a tank.....waves hand in the air.....I'm sure it's happened to most of us.

It sounds like a male Maleri and the one in the pic is either a sub male that isn't showing colour or its a female. By the look of the fin shape I'm going to say its a sub male.

    Fish dying

What has been the gravel cleaning regime on this tank and, if seldom, has the substrate been disturbed recently? Maybe toxins have been accumulating in the gravel and have been released somehow.
  11. I have a similar size tank.5 foot/450 litres. I run 2 CF1000s. 1 is solely for mechanical filtration and the other is for bacterial filtration. They work fine but I don't have a huge population.
  12. I may be missing something....... but with one central filter for all tanks...........if one tank gets a disease, wouldn't all tanks get infected?
  13. I'm not sure it's whitespot either but the article has a good pic of a Clown Loach with a good infestation. Does your fish look like its been sprinkled with salt??

You could try posting them here for an opinion or two. It's worked for me.
  15. Take a look at this article. http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/ich.php
  16. Thats smart. I remember seeing something on TV a couple of years ago where they had an African Grey that could distinguish and identify shapes, colours and textures. It could tell its handler that she was holding "keys" which were "metal" and "hard" then go on to say that the "green" "ball" was "soft" but the "yellow" "square" was "hard". Totally amazing.
  17. Yeah. I did. I changed from a Tetramin product to a Wardley product. The Tetramin has no spirulina but the Wardley does. Thanks smidey.
  18. Hi all. I have noticed black spots on my Metriaclima Estherae ( Red Zebra) He is eating and behaving normally and none of his tank mates have it. The tank is 450 litres and his roomies are 2 X E. Yellows, 6 x Peacocks, 3 X Cobalts, 1 X Melanochromis takeaguess. Ammonia 0.00ppm Nitrite 0.00ppm Nitrate 20.00ppm 30-40% weekly water change due tomorrow. Any diagnosis? Should I isolate him?
  19. The original hidden camera show 8)
  20. I work on this basis....first I research books and the internet. Then, if necessary, post on the forum....if I get the same info from several sources then I figure I'm on the right track. Its just a matter of filtering the info.
