  1. From www.onelook.com Quick definitions (porous) adjective: able to absorb fluids (Example: "The partly porous walls of our digestive system") adjective: full of pores or vessels or holes adjective: allowing passage in and out (Example: "Our unfenced and largely unpoliced border inevitably has been very porous")
  2. Is the rock porous? If not , you've already done as much as I do. I take rocks from the garden , scrub the loose stuff off under cold water and put them in the tank. It'll depend on where it's come from but if the rock's porous it may have some residual pesticides in it. Soaking it for a day or two should fix that.
  3. Hi. I'm no expert on Central and South American Cichlids but that sounds like an aggresive mix. My bet is he's taken a hit from one of his tankmates. Hopefully he'll come right in his own tank.
  4. What are his tank mates? Is he being bullied? He may have taken a knock.

  10. If you have plenty of plant cover then they should be OK to leave in the tank. If you need to remove them siphon them into a bucket.
  11. Hi djay. I have the same filter. I fill it with water, put the lid back on, open the valves and switch it on. Easy as and no bleeding necessary.
  12. My Africans love the JBL Novo Stick M. It's 42% protein and I read somewhere that good fish foods should be over 40%.

Hi malawiman. You might get a better response if you repost this in 'Private Trade and Exchange'
  14. Today I learned something...and thats never a bad thing. to Ira Prions are scary
  15. Does this only apply to fish diseases or infections? Does cooking infected beef kill 'Mad Cow Disease' ? Foot and Mouth? Does cooking infected poultry kill 'Bird 'flu' ?
  16. I've still got my money on this being a hoax. No one in their right mind would eat a fish that has died of unknown causes. Diseases can be transmitted so easily through cuts just imagine how dangerous ingesting them would be. This was posted a little time ago.. http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/diseas ... 26862.html The thread also has a link to another forum where a fishkeeper explains her near death experience. coelacanth may have a weird sense of humour but I don't think hes an idiot.
  17. Maybe I'm a wishful thinker....but I'm not taking coelacanth seriously. I'm smelling/hoping a hoax.
  18. Cheers Dolorosa. Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones. By the way.....I like Dolorosa. Nice name.
