  1. When younger I have had magpies, hedgies, lizards wild rabbits and various rescued baby birds. Slightly more conventional now.
  2. We used to have a realy brilliant German Shepard and he was never as healthy as when on a diet of mainly raw rabbit. It brings their coat up great.
  3. Could be horemani, red special or ozelot. Depends a lot on growing conditions and ferts. Probably horemani going by the veination---one advantage is that it is one of the few swords that does not like growing emersed so you don't need to convert them.
  4. Welcome and hope you continue to enjoy.
  5. Looks OK to me. Panic not grasshopper.
  6. Siphons are not easy to keep working and if it fails your filling system will still be working and you will get a flood. The idiot proof system is to have a filling system and an overflow
  7. There is a sticky on the beginners corner.
  8. Fungal infections are often oportunistic and will follow a bacterial infection of damage (often caused in goldfish by mating at this time of year.) Wunder tonic contains a number of ingredients that are good for controlling parasites, bacterial infectons and fungal infections. I would use that and treat the whole pond if that is economical, or remove the infected fish and treat in a smaller container.
  9. pH is only part of the water chemistry going on there. Any big changes can be a problem so as suggested it is best to make the changes as gradual as possible.
  10. They will all want one now. Means the price will go up and they will get smugled till extinct. The easiest maneater to have as a pet.
  11. Leave him be. When they are brumating they are brumating and you should not wake them up and feed them.
  12. I think it would be sharp compared to river sand
  13. Gave it 10 baby nealworms this morning to see what it would eat and it ate the lot. I always start with the mealworms because they are usually way down their list of preferences. It must think it has some catching up to do. And it has.
  14. The second one is exactly it. You can hear them right across the room and they will do it from the minute they hatch. Always interesting moving them from where they hatch to their new home. They can move pretty quickly as well.
  15. Bit hard to explain but pretty loud for such a little animal.
  16. I spotted a baby leopard gecko with a bit of skin hanging from its face at age 4 days. It had been there for over a day and I thought it had not shed properly so I caught it to see what was going on. They don't start eating until they have shed at around 3 days but this was something hanging out of its mouth. I pulled to free it up since it had been there so long and I ended up pulling a piece of Sphagnum moss over 50mm long out of its gut. As you might expect it got pretty vocal and I was consoling myself thinking it had been there that long and obviously could not pass it out of either end. I tried feeding it live food and it would not touch neonate locusts, baby mealworms or wax moth larvae until yesterday. Since it hatched 11/11/11 it had not fed for 12 days and I was getting worried. It pigged out yesterday and today so that is a good sign. Hope it keeps it up and puts on a bit of weight. It is the first one hatched that was incubated for males so I was keen to have it survive OK. It is not only kids that can be obstinate lil darlins.
  17. By the time I built my fish house I had run out of the crinkly stuff so bought 5 plastic baths for $5 each (they were chipped on the top) and started breeding in them
  18. What is a kindle? Has it got something to do with overseas travel?
  19. But there a number of native snake necks at your back door.
  20. Please add your location to your profile as it may make it easier for people to help.
  21. Depends how luxurious your dog box is. I would always put a fish down if it is incurable and not well at all (which is what yours sounds like).
  22. Down here we call structure bonding another shake
  23. Toughened glass is cut to size then toughened. If you try to cut toughened glass it will explode into a million pieces. You can cut laminated glass but it is only about as strong as the thickness of one layer.
  24. It is big enough to seperate. If you bend it back off the runner towards the mother plant it should come free. Cut the roots back to about 50mm and plant it. You may get more off the runner if there are other nodes on it. It may be the normal parvifloris rather than tropica in which casr could you keep me one. Jennifer has a good bunch of them in a Hi Tech tank and they are way smaller than that.
