  1. Yes definalty love counts though only if you plan to keep these guys if you want to breed them then its more about the fish Though this also depends on what is available as Frontosa are fairly rare still over there it doesnt help you much Brad
  2. Just from looking at those photos I would have think the Ventral fins look Azureus to me but head shape looks fryeri to me Where is that link Justin its about these fish sold in the US Brad Also OOA they have to do this when they realise they arent the same species Alot of these guys started as Haplochromis Same as Cichlasoma Only when they realise how different they are then the names keep changing Better with plecs and the L number system well in a way
  3. Freakyfish

    Purigen

IMO just be sfaer using a quality product as Seachem Prime or Safe Brad
  4. Freakyfish

    Purigen

Its the active ingrediant on chlorine removal Brad
  5. Freakyfish

    Purigen

You dont need to get extra just your tank will be without it for 2 days Here I bleach it over night and then wash thouroughly and then soak it in Prime again over night Rewash and a small amount of prime straight onto the Purigen bag b4 adding it back to the tank I know I go over board on Prime but id rather be safe then sorry If your worried about the price of Prime buy Safe which is powdered Prime At least its better then Sodium Thiosulphate Safe removes more from the water Brad
  6. Well IMO definalty not C. Chrysonotus It might be a Copadichromis azureus though I think more likely a Hybrid as all these species females are difficult to tell apart Former name for Copadichromis azureus is Haplochromis chrysonotus which is a different fish to Copadichromis chrysonotus This is where the confusion starts http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/s ... hp?id=1011 Brad
  7. Hey guys Hopefully I will helping shell get some really nice frontosa from here Darrens fish are amazing Very Very good quality Frontosa Also guys I would just be calling your frontosa simply frontosa Unless they were Imported as Burundi which Shell has told us didnt happen then no location can be right Brad
  8. Yeah I reckon I would love to hear more about the work you were involved in Brad
  9. IMO they arent the best but its not like they are going to die straight away I know of people that keep them alot in bowls and though I dont exactly reccomend it It will work Brad
  10. Does this bowl have any kind of Filtration or is it just a bowl with water in it? IMO change 50% water every couple of days and feed every couple of days and they will be fine till you get a new tank If it doesnt have a filter It wont cycle as there isnt anything to cycle Regular water changes and not much food and they will be ok Not all fish shops are interested in just taking your money Some are definalty but not all Brad
  11. Also check just inside the tap these taps are prone to breaking just by alittle ovet tightening remove the tap from the canister and look into it the small balc centre bit should nearly reach the end of the tap and there should be and Oring right then about 4 mm in What i have found is the tap snaps at the Oring and comes off and the tap leaks
  12. Yeah good point Warren we could get ourselves into alot of trouble airing the words that I would have said Especially with my Staff "Puddles" He has been called a few things in the heat of the moment and he is a Kiwi too Brad
  13. LOL thanx Warren I wasnt to precise in working it out  Brad
  14. Yeah mine was in the shop I dont know how much water 113square metres 1inch deep Say about 3000l roughly Plus it was running out the front door as well lol Brad
  15. IMO selective line breeding for colour is not a major problem As long as your breeding the same fish together I am very against hybrids and such Mutations can be found naturally but im more against mutations through different species Selective breeding for Albino guppies is a subject where evryone will have an opinion but they do occur in the wild but as you have pointed out they have a lower survival rate The main reason people crossbreed different species is to make money People love having something different from everyone else Brad
  16. Well My reason for not liking these type of fish is simply are not good for the hobby They are not natural and if they do get popular that hobby we know at the moment will not survive. Look at Blood Red Parrots Flowerhorns and etc I know these guys are mutated not GE though this practice wont stop if there are people willing to pay money for them I just dont think we should be mucking around with genetics just to please ourselves and make our fish glow I like the idea that the fish I keep can be found in the wild exactly the same Though I do sell gold fish and Discus which doesnt really agree with some of my comments I wont attack anyone elses views on this topic though I do like to hear others views I do my part by not selling any fish or products that are unnatural to fish Brad
  17. My little brother was filling up tyhe sump at the shop b4 he finished one night and forgot about it Left went home Came back to the shop in the early hours of the morning on his way home from a big night he had a feeling something was wronh hose had been running for around 8 hours Entire shop had about 1 inch of water through it Shop is about 113 square metres so thats alot of water lol Glad i was away that weekend and didnt have to help clean it up This is by the worst time but not bthe only time One of my staff is nicknamed puddles cos he likes to overfill tanks Brad
  18. Mystic I agree we do need more people like Frenchy OMG I cant believe I just said that But seriously Mystic what you posted in this topic simply will not work All we have done to try and correct your mistakes with the problem you cant see why your wrong If we hadnt of posted why we think the fan is better everyone who reads this thread would think the best idea was ice Public forums are a way to work through problems and find the best solution I dont mean to be picking on you but you just dont know when to admit your beat Alot of the problems fish keepers deal with I deal with every single day in the shop I pride myself on trying to find the best solution for every customer so sometimes I have literally done hours of research I just want to know how the ice works in your tanks? Brad
  19. Are we talking about this fish? Commonly known as Pindanni? http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=919 Brad
  20. Yeah I dont think its a peacock I just see it being to tall Quite possibly a cross between them Justin and I had a great talk about this fish today If only he would come into the shop and help me not talk fish and slow me down lol Brad
  21. What type of sponge filter is it I have a few diff types in the shop and with them i cut the core out of them and add airline with a airtstone attached I found the larger bubbles coming straight from eithert the end of the airline or the end of the pipe made the most noise simple adjustment and perfect
  22. Hey im not that bad Well I dont think but I might be alittle biased At least I have hair Juzzy Al go ahead mate nothing to hide here Yeah what blues are we talking? Brad
  23. With the move the yellows would have been stressed and just getting used to their new enviroment Give them some time and they will come good A mate of mine has a large colony of yellows which totally hide when I arrive there Though he assures me when he is there alone they are always out Brad
  24. Of course the Ice wont make the tank to cold Mystic Actually it wont even make the tank cold at all How hot does your tank get Mystic? How much ice do you add? What temp. does it drop to? How big is the tank? Also Jacko yeah Im not quite as good as you in explaining how exactly somethings work I just know what works and what doesnt Brad
