  1. Don't know the botanical name but it is definitely baby tears. Have a ton of it in the glass house and it is flowering all the time.

    Juwel Vision 450

Ok thanks for that. I am now going to email the client and we will see what she decides. Thanks so much for the advice.

Thanks jolliolloi. I must admit I haven't seen the Vision 450 but was pleased to see that it stood higher than the smaller models. This is one thing that the Aqua Ones have over most Juwels. Why both filters? The internal filter is not particularly nice to look at and if we choose a large cannister I can't see that we need the internal, but will pass on any comments to the client who wants the usual community tropicals - angels etc. We usually prefer Eheim filters over anything else for reliability, quality, long life, speed of cleaning. The Aquience comes with a filter which we could change but also has T5 lighting which would be nice.

We have quite a few Aqua One Royale's (bow front) and Regal and Monarch which are curved corners and have had no problems what so ever. They are all quite well braced so not worried about this, more concerned about the filtration in the Jewels. Also bought a Jebo curved corner recently but put a cannister filter on it and the only problem we have with that is access to service it - it is quite a rigmarole (sp) to get lid off due to the filtration unit along the back.

Thanks spoon. I have never used these aquariums and really want reliability above all else. Also looking at Aqua One Aquience 120 bow front which is a bit smaller. Client wants a bow front and money is no object - wouldn't that be nice!

I would really appreciate some opinions on this aquarium and in particular the filtration. If money were no object would you prefer to put an external cannister filter on instead?
  7. I would contact Department of Building and Housing and ask. http://www.dbh.govt.nz/tenancy-index
  8. Eheims last a long time - we have one that is 28 years old! The media for the fluval will also add to the price.
  9. We grow blue hygrophilia, ludwigia, lysamachia, baby tears and java fern in all our goldfish tanks with no problems whatsoever. Mind you most places where the tanks are have a temperature of around 20 degrees. The only time that the goldfish destroy the plants are at this time of the year when the hygrophilia can be very tender.
  10. Add some oyster grit to your filter and that will raise the PH gradually and keep it there for quite some time.
  11. We have a number of Aqua One units and find them all really good. The Evo and Eurostyle both come with cannister filters and heaters. The lighting could be better on the Eurostyle but I believe the Evo comes with T5 lighting.

    Fish dying

I had a guy ring me last week with a similar problem. Turned out he had been spraying near the pond so might pay to check that too.
  13. I can't believe that someone who has so many problems still finds the time to help others. Thanks Mark and you should find a donation in your account tomorrow. I wish you both the best of luck.
  14. Well went to the chemist and no iodine spray so I am going to give betadene a go which apparently has antibiotics in it too. They will be comming out of water tonight to be treated and put back in in the morning. I will let you all know how it goes and thanks so much for the advice.
  15. Thanks guys, Will try your suggestions. The turtles have never had this problem before, they only have daylight bulbs at home, and have been hibernating at home. The male appears to have lost part of his tail - I think he has had it for a while. Can I get the iodine spray from the chemist?
