  3. Vent sexing them is the only reliable way carefully holding your fish upside down have a look at its vents near the anal fin Males will have 2 same size vents while females will have 1 larger then the other Male oo Female Oo Brad
  4. You can also sprnkile BiCarb soda all over it and letit sit for the night Come back and vacuum it out and aloty of the smell will be gone Alot cheaper then the Shack and Vac things they sell Brad
  5. Its all about being sexually mature for them to actuall succeed and get fry Cuckoo catfish will not breed under 2 years old Fronts are generally around the 2-3 year age mark when I have had them breed Also approx 5 inches is about the smallest I have seen them hold succesfully Brad

  8. I would keep the PH up and keep the calcium block in the water They ensure the shell stays hard A low Ph generally attack turtles with bacterial and fungal infections Brad
  9. You want the Filter wool and stuff first to stop the majority of crap getting to your biological media as you dont want these clogged up at all I run Filter foam then a sponge then onto Bioballs and Matrix then Purigen in my sumps Only ever clean the Foam and sponge Keeps the tank crystal clean and the majority of the media never needs a clean Brad
  10. Theycan be mixed though they do like slightly different water conditions IE Lang Tang averages about PH 8.5 as well as getting as high as 9 in places Where Lake Malawi is generally PH 7.6 and as high as 8.4 Though my African display has a mix of Lake Tang Lake Malawi Lake Victoria and some riverine species as wel Brad
  11. If your going to sell it anywhere I think you should tell people that it has dripped but stopped Just ruinning a bead of silicon up an edge doesnt always work old silicon and new silicon wont stick to each other better to find the leak and but 2 strips of glass over it and silicon those in Gives it alot of surface area to stick too Brad
  12. They are not Ahli simply cos they were imported under that name doesnt mean they are that The fish shown in the pic S.Fryeri not S.Ahli Brad
  13. My big display tank has eaten so many hybrids and deformed fish now ive lost count of what has gone in there even though im totally against hybrids if the shop is as least telling people and selling them as Hybrids its better then trying to sell them as pure species Also its the way some people try and tell shops about hybrid (not meaning anyone here) i have had people in my shop trying to tell me what this fish is and what that is and why that was is a hybrid I usually just nod my head and listen to them I dont try and talk them into why I consider them what they are cos they dont care and they already think im wrong Brad
  14. Yeah I might have lol Definaly a good idea to keep the algae there as they are so small good luck with them Brad

  17. I have also used a Glass cutter to cut the amount of brace of required leaving most of it still there Then using a sharp blade cutting away the silicon Brad
  18. why do you want to get rid of the algae Its not a bad thing to have in the tank unless it starts dieing off Brad
