  1. Yep I've tried the Nutrafin Co2 kit, they seem to work well, you can make your own at a lot less $, just by using a 2ltr coke bottle, and abit of airline tube,if you look in the plants forum you will see posts there on how to make your own C02 mixture, I cant remember off hand the amounts but know it's a mixture of water, sugar and yeast. I dont use this method anymore I use the Sera CO2 system which is soo easy to use, just like adding a berrocca to the tank. A tablet is placed in a special plastic difusser and the CO2 gas slowly disperses thru the special plastic difusser. I use this method with Seachem Flourish works wonders. Happy Planting Lynda

    Clove Oil

Thanks guys, must admit I have had to use Alans idea in the past and it seems to work really well, just read this on another fish forum, had never heard of this before so thought I would ask if anyones heard or used this method before. Thanks again. Lynda
  3. Hi Fish Luva, I don't know much about Discus as I don't actually own any, but as u probably already know, Discus are egglayers, so not sure that they actually get to the stage of doing their thing, like Livebearers do, I have Angels which are also egglayers and have to admit have never actually seen them doing their thing as such. Wait and see what other people have to say about this. Lynda

    Clove Oil

Does anyone know anything about using Clove Oil to put fishies out of their misery, was reading this on another forum, have never heard of this before, wondering if anyone has actually used this method to end a suffering fishies life. Lynda
  5. Yep I would say Melafix is the way to go. Really would be a great idea to invest in a test kit at some stage, these are worth there weight in gold. Hope you get it sorted. Lynda
  6. ooohhhh, I want some, OMG they are soooo beautiful, freshwest. Good Luck wif ya bubba's. Lynda

    power bill

Wouldn't you think they would at least notify you to let you know they haven't been able to get in to read the meter, I mean why leave it 12mths, must have been abit of a shock, but then on the other hand I don't think $1300 for 12mths is bad, I pay round $300-400 a month, sometimes more, but then that's for a family of 6, so yours sounds pretty reasonable compared to mine, thank gudness mine gets read every other month, hmmm can't quite imagine receiving a power bill for around the $6000 mark for 12 mths. :-? :-? :-? Lynda
  8. Hi there, Really sorry to hear that your Clown Loaches aren't doing so well at the moment, could you possibly let us know your water parameters, when did you last do a water change, have you added anything to this tank lately, if there a no Whitespots then it posslby isn't Whitespot, if it was Whitespot it would look as tho your fishies have been sprinkled with salt, but then again you are saying they are going around scratching on things, maybe the Whitespot isn't evident yet, I would keep a very close eye on them, you say they have White edges around their fins, maybe this is the beginings of Fin Rot, Clown Loaches are really sensitive so just be very careful when treating with any sort of Medication. Keep us posted as to how they ae doing. Good Luck Lynda
  9. Gee, that was quick, smcoleman, good luck with ya eggs, hope it all goes well. Keep us posted on how it all goes. Lynda
  10. Hi peanuts, Really pleased to see that you noticed your tank, well before disaster struck, it could have been a damn sight worse a?, this a when it is definitely an advantage having MTS, I would say. What sort of Fishy's do you have in these tanks? Lynda
  11. Good Luck with the Breeding Catbrat, hope all goes well for you and your Plec's, rather pretty aren't they. Lynda
  12. Hi there, you could try a piece of Marley spouting placed in the tank on an angle, and they may or maynot spawn on that, sometimes the eggs that have turned white, mean that these have not been fertilised, and sometimes they will get fungus. Not sure what colour the bubba's would be, you will just have to wait and see. Happy Fishing Lynda
  13. Really Sorry to about your loss. Remember time will heal. Lynda
  14. Yep, I would have to go with that idea, Geetee, just what I was thinking. Great minds think alike a? Good Luck quack, hope it all goes well for you. I used to have Severums, beautiful Fishy's. Lynda
  15. Remember lots of small water changes, as the egg yolk will foul the water, as the fry start to get a little bigger, you can feed then BBS (baby brine shrimp) these are hatched from Brine Shrimp Eggs, you can also feed the bubbas up on Microworms, you will have to get a culture off someone tho, people here sell them, maybe PM Blue and Kim, thats where I got mine from. Good Luck Lynda
  16. Hi Guys, Just wanted to say "Really Sorry to hear about the loss of some of your Fishys" . I use Flourish Excel, and have had excellent results with this, I will admit I don't double dose and I probably only dose every second or third day. I do wonder about the double dosing straight away, I would have thought you would at least have to build up to a double dose, rather than double dosing right from day 1. Just a thought. Lynda
  17. Hi there, I also use filtered water in my 4ft Comm Tank, I have a water filter inline in the garden hose, works wonders, on one end of the water filter cartridge I have a piece of hose with a joiner on it, this is plugged into the garden hose when I do a water change, on the other end I have a piece of hose which has a piece of aluminium which is bent into the shape of a hook, this end is then placed over the back of my tank and the hose turned on, excellent set up. Maybe you could try something like this, the cartridge is a carbon filter. Good Luck Lynda
  18. cracker, Don't know much bout Saltwater Tanks, so does it apply to do changes very slowly? Would changing everything so quickly not be bad for the fishies? Don't want any dead fishies a. Lynda
  19. Hi Ira, I don't have any answers for you sorry, I know nothing about Saltwater Tanks. Just thought, I would wish you the best for your 2 week trip and hope you get it all sorted before you go away. Lynda
  20. You need to remember that when treating Clown Loaches for White Spot, you should only dose with I think it is half the recommended dose, Clown Loaches are very sensitive to meds, I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong with the doseage rate, but I do no it should not be the full dose that is directed on the bottle, yes this treatment will turn the water blue, as far as I remember the water never stayed as blue as it did when you first medicate, I usually turned my filters down abit so it doesnt suck all the medication out. Think you are also meant to turn the temp up to round 29 degrees. You could do a serch on White Spot, this will bring up all the threads bout it, remember serch on the FNZAS serch not the Google one. Good Luck Lynda
  21. Congrats peanuts, on your Gourami's little bubba's, don't forget to do lots of little water changes, and feed them up on BBS and Microworms, I too have Dwarf Gourami's, but have never had the pleasure of seeing them make a bubble nest, spawning and so on. Would be great if you could post some pic's. Good Luck wif ya Bubba's Lynda
