Hey all! I've just been convinced to try line breeding a beautiful guppy I bought from the Livebearer show. I've set up a brand new tank, with the idea of growing plants in it as well as breeding the guppies. I have set the tank up from scratch - new clean water (no old aquarium water added) new filter etc to try and avoid any snails i already have. I have the guppies in another tank, and tonight i tested the pH of both the guppy tank and the new guppy/plant tank. Guppies at 6.6/6.8 and plants at about 7.8. What would be the ideal pH for both the guppies and the plants to thrive in harmony? I've had a nosey round the internet but seem to get conflicting info about pH…

hey there i was thinking about moving out of gravel and into using sand , is it alright to use white sand in a tank for guppies? and also i came across a thought .. how do you keep a sand bedded tank clean , i mean when the guppies make a mess wouldnt it be hard to clean the waste from the sand ? and even if i brought one of those siphons vaccs wouldnt it suck up the sand too? !!!!! on other thoughts ill just stick to my white gravel!!!!

Found this when I was deleting photos off the memory card, the first ever Guppies I brought when I started my livebearer tank last year. these were the fore-fathers of the hundreds of guppies I had to give away through over the year.

My daughter has some gold guppys. Some of the males are turning out lovely yellow tails and some have red in there tails and on their bodys. To keep the yellow ones coming,.I know i have to get the reds out early. The question is wont the yellow strain get weaker if i keep doing this. And just breed golds.

I'm wanting to add some fresh bloodlines into my collection of various snakeskin and leopard print guppies (no idea what crosses produced these - just happened freely in my tank lol)...getting a bit inbred at the moment lol. If anyone have any fry Im more than willing to either do a fry swap or purchase them off you. Cheers.

I'd heard of it happening in swordtails, but i was a bit surprised to see that my female guppy now has a males gonopodium :-? There are about 50 females in the tank and only 2 males . Will she/he eventually look like a male? I managed to get a pic:

I have some molly babies I am looking at moving on soon, but wondered how old they have to be before you can tell male from female? I have two broods, one coming up 2 months old and another at 2 weeks. I have heard someone on here say they can tell what their guppies are from day one, but I was under the illusion that they change as they get slightly older. If they don't change then i have too many girls!!!
