I really like that sponsor an animal idea.

But don't forget that it would be an ongoing thing as people like getting updates on an animal they sponsor, so it might cause more trouble than its worth. Then you gotta pay for increased bandwidth on the net etc etc ...

All the same though, if an idea like this goes through I would be keen on helping code a few bits and pieces there. Living Arts gets the funds it needs and I get a nice fancy bit on my resume when I finish Uni.

Great to see so many ideas... this is what we have come up with.

1) Trademe auctions, donating the money of the auction.

2) Animal Sponsers-> This would work better if there was a web site, mayby someone who can you the net could do this?

Then you list the animals like a native animal with a sponser or a donate button... either a monthly transaction of $10 or one of deposit of $10. Money transfer, check, cash or credit card.

This way advertisment of the park would be easier, local tourits destinations... and so on

3) work bee... People donate their time to help fix up of the park

e.g tuck shop, playground...

4) Wharehouse... Normally they have fundraise barbes that you can use... good few hundread dollers in that. If everyone on a satday organise to go to the locall wharehouse and do the barbey...

5) large corprates... if someone could draft a letter and send it to large companys like BP, Farmers, Shell and so on and in return and bit of PR...

Another idea,, ideas are running through my brain,, this one is the two NZ mags that tell storys of every day people not clebs "Thats life" and "Lucky Break",, with the story published gets money rangeing form $400 to $1000 depending on the story,, also animal pictures get $50 for the winning pic,,

another idea for funds,, a money jar at pets shops, vets, all animal places,, every one has loss change and it can go a long way,,

Some of the fish shops might not be in much of a better situation though. Times are tough in retail, and specialist stores (like smaller locally owned LFS) will be feeling it. Perhaps in some of the bigger chain stores like Animates (not sure how keen they would be though!).

I'm sure the bosses at Animates could be swayed...

And some News:

Bumper weekend for wildlife park

18.08.2008

by Alison King

Grandparents and grandchildren were among the dozens of visitors keen to feed the chickens and pet the calves at Living Art Wildlife Park _ despite the cold and rain.

Park owners Mark and Caroline Paterson said they were pleasantly surprised at the number of visitors who visited the park this weekend, just days after it went through an 11th-hour stay of execution.

One of those visiting was Otumoetai grandmother Melva Cummins. She said her grandchildren were grown up but she still wanted to experience the park's environment for herself.

"I read they were having a hard time and were trying to encourage people to come, so I decided to visit myself," she said.

"It's been great. There's more to it than I expected."

Papamoa toddler Josh Dagg was steering clear of the ducks, but he had plenty of time for the Highland cattle _ even though the calf tried to swallow his hand along with the food visitors can buy.

"We felt sorry for the owners _ they're making a good effort to have this for the children, so we thought we'd support it," said Josh's nana, Gail Weston.

"He's having a good time, but he's concerned about the ducks chasing him."

Mr Paterson said the cold and wet weather usually kept visitors away, so they were happy to have people arrive as soon as they opened.

"Usually on a day like this, we get no one, because they don't want to get out of their cars," he said.

"We've had a lot of people say they never knew we were here [before the publicity regarding the hard times]."

Maybe if we all emailed TV 3 and asked what was happening with the park it would generate enough interest for them to think they need to do a follow-up??? Coz if lots of people want to know, they'll think its good publicity for them too??.....

Yes, everyone email Campbell Live and ask for a TV refered update on the park, and suggest to have the Account Number mentioned also for those that dont have the net etc.

Thats what we have done still waiting a response ....
