Since I don't have my hard drive any more (motherboard on my computer blew up and this computer won't run my harddrive) Could I please have the email which was in the NZKA forms to contact that guy about the news letters? As of yet I haven't recieved one news letter. I would love to be apart of the survy. All I know so far is that via aquanut I am getting Fundulpoanchax Gardneri Albino and one other form of the same species. Cheers :bounce:

WOW I was wondering when this was going to happen again. I can see that eggs seem to be scattered about the cave that he is in. I hope that he rounds them up or they will fungus (?) I don't know how many eggs are there as I can't see under the cave but it would of been done last night so 2 weeks from now I should be able to get numbers of how many I have YEEE HAWWWW :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

no no chiller for my salt tank yet. But I noticed when I had the small 19ltr tank setup it sat at 20-22*C. Once it hit 24 I then added ice packs and it chilled down to 19-20 again. They all seem to be doing ok at this temp but I am hoping to get my husbands arse of his computer game and get to work on the so called promised chiller that he was going to attempt to make up. So I will let yous know how that goes (if it goes at all! lol) Cheers :bounce:

Ok I am going to appologise first for keeping peoples hopes up. Looks like I have been sucked in by the LFS once again ( then again whats new with Liz!! ) The chillers that she told me would be 1/3 of the price have finaly come in. 100ltr tank = $741.10 Designed to drop 8 degrees 300ltr tank = $915.50 500ltr tank = $1211.90 1000ltr tank = $1743.80 My husband was there with me at the time and he to said that Liz said that they were to be about $200 which is 1/3 of the normal price but the prices she gave me today don't even look like they are 1/3 off the normal selling price!!! So once again sorry guys. BTW my cold water marine tank is up and running. I just got to get the pictures off the camera uploaded to the computer. I have two crabs, some large cats eye snails, two triple fins and one glass shrimp. Totaly awesome

depending on how much tripping is involved (due to having 3 kids) I would be very interested and think it would be a great way to meet new people of the same interest Cheers

Well if the pleco is anything like the common bristlenose then there is a chance that its spikes that they stick out now and then may have caught its fins. My Guppies have often swam past my bristlenose when he is displaying his spikes and has had their tail ripped/split. Its a clean slice and normaly heals again with out any defects. So that could be one thing thats happening but others may have more suggestions also Cheers

Ok for the chillers I don't have a price yet but I will be going back friday afternoon (hope to get them friday morning) to get prices and other specs. So far the info I have is for up to 100ltr, 300, 500 and 1,000. So thats all I have for now and I will find out as much info as I can friday afternoon. They should come out of customs tomorrow they hope. Cheers

From what I have read and pictures I have seen, blonde is a male that is mainly orange/red in colour all over its body (fins included), golden is just a base body colour along with greys and then your half colours like half black and half blue. Of course you still have your true albinos, snakeskins and cobras. I have also heard that some places in the world refer to the yellow body guppys as blonde also but many prefer to use golden. It is very confusing I know and I think somewhere in the livebearers section I have found an identifications site and the link is posted there. I hope that helps Cheers :bounce:

the tank is already cycled as it was the very first tank I got april last year. The fish were removed Thursday last week. It still has snails in it and I was going to add a couple of bristlenoses tonight. Thanks for the info though Alan. Cheers :bounce:

Has anyone got any killie eggs available yet? If so what kind do you have to offer. My trip up to see southern man has been cancled due to my computer blowing up (on husbands at the moment) and spending the petrol money to get me another motherboard. I am still waiting to hear back from Aquanut for the gardneri albino. I have a 2ft tank setup and waiting. Kinda boring with just water and plants in the tank hehe. Cheers :bounce:

well it looks like my albino male isn't looking to good. I have read that the albino gene can make the fish more likely to catch diseases than others. I have noticed its tail has had a very small rip in it which over the last 3 days it has gotten bigger. Like more is being eaten away. I have seen my bristlenoses fan out their spiky things and have caught my guppies tails with it before but normaly they heal from it but this time this one isn't healing as well. My outlook isn't that high for my albino as I haven't had any fry from the 4 females that are with him. All he does is hang out in his corner but comes out when I am feeding them. Might shift them to a bigger tank and see how things go If you manage to get any albinos let me know how things went for you. Cheers

so if I was to use a moontube would I leave it on all night? Cheers
-
Damn hand to hunt this post up lol. I was wondering if I was to have lights on my tank, one for day and one of thoes moonlight ones, does the moonlight ones run all night? I know I don't need any lights at all but thought I may as well do what I can to make the tank look good. The tank should be ready to start setting up next weekend. I swaped my guppies for a 2 1/2 ft tank and all I have had to spend so far is $11 for a tube of silicon to redo the seals as the old ones were lifting off the glass. Cheers
-
DAMN! I got all excited and it was lucky to be 5 mins of an interview! Should of made them do a full 1 hr doco on it hehehe. Still awesome tank :bounce:
-
With a cold water marine do you need to have a night light for them? Or any other form of specail lightening? I got me a new tank today (second hand but it was free for trade of guppies ) and so far it has only cost me a tube of silicon to reseal the insides as it was lifting. I often hear about moonlight. Is this required and if so what bulb are you looking for? Cheers

Ok I went into the LFS today and they said early to mid next week the cheap chillers should be in. She said that there is a small one and two medium ones and one large. I don't know prices or anything yet but I will let you all know as soon as I know. I intend to go in there with pen and paper and write down as much info as possible on each chiller. Cheers
-
well at the moment they ain't comming along at all lol. My husband has been busy with his little brother who has come down from hamilton for a week to see us before he goes to Europe in March. But today my computer decided it would die and any attempt to fix it hasn't worked so he is currently working hard out on that. I will head into East Rd later this week and ask them about their lower priced chillers and see what information I can find out about them Cheers
-
umm wouldn't Mince be easier :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

so would the cheap stuff that I got be ok in a cold water marine setup? Or if I can manage with out it then it would be better? I haven't seen that sort of activated carbon at our LFS.
-
I can get 250g of Activated Carbon for $4.95. I don't know if its a good price or bad price but if its good and you want some let me know and we can sort something out Cheers
-
I was just wondering when these are sent out? I don't know if I have missed the latest one or not but thought I would ask about it. How often does it get sent out? Cheers
-
you could try using that professional stuff that you can get. The add is on tv where the wife hires the pest controlers and spray the outside of the house and eventually the husband does it himself. I can't remember the brand name but if you were to spray the door frames and window frames (outside of course) then that might be enough to keep flys at bay. Its worth a try Cheers
