Lampeye tetras look good swimming in and out of plants and Panda Cory cats are a good option instead of albinos. Nice tank. Discus?????

It was a trip to Fiji that got me keen on keeping fish. Last time I was there a couple of the boys from the rugby team took me on a night dive. $20.00 torch a mask etc and some shorts and me were of. Time about 8.00 pm just getting dark (no watch). The boys got mackel, 9 Stone fish which are great with coconut sauce and a few other fish but the thing I remember the most was the sharks rubbing up against you and bumping to see if you were food@!!!!!!!!!!! only reef sharks??????? But asked the boys what would happen if there were tigers around and they said that they leave the catch bag for the sharks, Better to not have diner than be diner. 4 hours of kava later and I'm the great white hunter. What a great time with great people.

I need to replace some fluorescence tubes and I'm wondering what I should replace them with. Standard Aquarium tubes, Marine Tubes or your standard "Cool Whites" the tank is 1.0m deep and contains Discus and is planted so need the brightest available. What is the difference Marine and Standard? What are Grow lux tubes that they sell at Hydroponics shops??

Better ways to run a sump system I think, ie bio balls, floss etc. Hook up a uv filter on the return hose and no problems with cross contamination.

AR980 which I have two of both leak around top trim. Can be fixed with sealant but the guy that did mine couldn't the first time. AR850 that I have one of doesn’t seem to have this problem. The plate on top of the motor should also be checked that it is well glued to motor housing, It has a lot of pressure on it due to the spray bar that feeds the filter. Just little things that you get with “MADE IN CHINAâ€.

Hard to tell from photo. Maybe damage from transit resulting in fungus. Try Aquaflivane. Can't say for sure.

Hi Phil just in regards to Epson salts, if currently dosing with aquarium salt would u still add Epson salts as well and how often.

I put the guppies in there 4 it. As I haven't seen it eat and there was a bit of food left over from previous feeding I didn't want to take the risk of it not eating so gave him something that I thought would tempt him. I'm happy that they are all eating now so there isn't food sitting on the bottom and they are looking good. I have lots of Guppies but only a small % that are worth keeping to breed so its either off to the pet shop as live feed or these guys.

No not in with the Discus. Didn't think Zebra would like the low ph so in tank by them selves Put about 6 Guppies in last nigth only about 1cm long and they seem to have gone this morning??? Lovely looking fish but just not me. Rift lake tank would be great but this would have to be after the 6' Discus, Reef tank and predator tank so could be a little way off. Just looking for some help here with identifying some guys that were drop on me in the weekend. Also what is the best food for them. Feeding Tetra crisps, Cichlid sticks(Zebra), Bloods worms (loach) and sinking pallets for bottom feeders for catfish. I'm going to move these guys on as I don't have the room for them or the set up. Moby the Zebra (I think) is such a character but think it better if they're with they own kind. Just so I understand. They aren't reaching temp so not turning off?? I've found very little differnce with heater brands using JEBO at the mo and haven't had any problems. Would agree that its best to have two heaters that are each rate for 3/4 of volume so if one doesn't switch off it hopfully wont have the power to cook them. If your not happy with the heaters take them back and don't leave to you get refund and then ring importers and tell them that you are posting here what happened.

Just a note that I microwaved some blood worms as was told that this kill any bugs that may also be present. Fish eat them not a problem but the house didn't smell very nice. I found it hard to get my Discus to eat anything thats moving. Guppies that were put in for live food started breeding, mealworms had a bath and earth worms can't hold them breaths for very long. Give it a go see if they will take them but it migth take a few goes. How hard is it for you to get them to eat a different food. Say Tetra bits to flake.

Are they in the same room. Can be carried in the air. What kind of fish are they. Have they got worms. Apart from sunken bellys what else can you notice, faeces, colour.

I'm with them. My one did well to start with and then it was laps chasing Tetras.

I see that Cape Brenton came in ahead of NZ in the places to visit in some tourist mag. Must be nice then.
