Cheers Sharn. Only other fish in tank are 2 guppies but lots of plants.

I have a female Apisto Cockatoo that is bloated. She is eating and seems to be fine apart from being bloated. Her scales are sitting flat but she is a bit nose down. She has been this way for a while and I was hoping that she was full of eggs but have given up waiting. What is the dose rate I should use with Epsom Salts. I would like to take her out of tank and give her bath in bucket if possible.

I here that people use "Drontal" dog wormer but unsure what the active drug is.

What dog wormer is it. i asked at vet about prazi when getting last lot of Metrozondal (sp). Could only buy in large containers and went of quick so no good for me.

Super glue, Does'nt dry in water but would be ok to go back in water after a couple of hours. Just don't now if silicone would be stronge enough.

50% water change to start with. May be repeat the next couple of days apart from high nitrates may be male was a bit rough. Take some water in to your LFS and ask them to test it for you if they don't start shopping at another.

Bummer about the female. Do or did your Discus have stringy faeces if so this is worms or Hex as Blue&Kim said or Hole in Head, hard to tell unless you have microscope. If so worm with dog wormier or if your vets nice he might get some Metronzindola (sp). If you think fish are ok and eating and on sign of stringy pooh just mix in with food some how. Get some white worms for them they will love u for it. If you can't get any up your way I will send you a starter culture.

Is this plant available in OZ. what about our other far away friends every seen these around.

Is it band in NZ, could we get seeds sent from say OZ, I know that you can send seeds oversee's for native plants.

Any one know where I could get some. Doesn’t have to be local happy to pay for shipment. Why do we not have this plant available? It has to be one of the most striking plants out there.

Anyone kept Bleeding heart Tetras and Discus together and Black phantoms. I here the BHT can be a handful.

Yeah that's the thing everything looks ok but that "nitrates-10" is making them stressed which will led to other problems (one of mine hit the side of tank and was all down hill from here tell death next day). Lots of water changers will get them looking ok. What is your local water like, here in CHCH it can go straight in from the tap. Bring the ph down could be a go as well.

Hi mate learnt this lesson the hard way as well but this well be your problem I think. nitrates-10 do a couple of 50% water changers and things should be ok. What are you feed the Discus. Beef heart if there young and less then 2'' or trying to breed them other than that if your feeding beef heart you'll have to do a change of water the same day.

I treated Discus for 3 days with this stuff and then did 50% change. Good for Discus good for Rams.

I've got six in one tank and one of these is about twice the size of the rest that where all purchased together. I see these guys more often than the Blue Rams in the tank. My girlfriend is willing them to breed so fingers crossed.

I'm with Suphew on this one but perspec are good for dividers and you can drill them for water movement.

Unless u are short of space I think sumps are better. Nice looking filter but.

I go along with alanmin. Wooden box work best, must let the air in better or something. Have tried icecream container but not as good. I use peat which has been in my filter. Just about to start one off in a box I made 24"x8"x8".

Craig sounds like u know what's what. Peats a good option and better/safer to bring ph down (Dunedin water ph??). White worms don't seem to foul the water as much as Beef heart so offer is good for as long as required. Good luke.

That salt water don't taste nice. They went for them straight off. they had been sitting/hanging around inbetween feeding from Mum and Dad but now they go hunting.

Nice if they breed I'm keen. You got White worms for them. If not I'll send some down for you to start a culture.

When cleaning just run the syphone hose outside.

Cheers for the replys. All my Discus tanks have peat in them so no problem with that and they'er all bear bottom. Just made up rack of 4 bottle for hatching Brine shrimp so allgo. How often should I start culture and what age BBS is best to feed.
