same with ornamental pheasants,you get inbreeding and worse still cross breeding that mucks up the whole strain.Afew years back was impossible to get a pure lady amherst`s here.The Kaligy is all but gone now and those that are here are mostly infertile and interelated.

look at that crap,ask yourself if you were a turtle would you eat that?I don`t know how they have the nerve to sell that stuff for the price they do?there are heaps of better things,green lipped mussells from the supermarket lightly microwaved are far better and eaten with relish.Worms from the garden,lean oxheart,small fish from the wharf,bones and all.

does not really matter what you use,heat is heat?the dragons would have got to know where the best spots were to suit their needs and hieracrcy(sp)were ,when you changed the heat source all this would change too.If the overall heat was less and the current day length as well they will slow down naturally.I don`t know how it works but even despite any lighting in the tanks mine always seem to be intune somehow with the real daylength and still slow down to a degree regardless of any artificial lighting??comments?

mt cootha botanical gardens are worth a look,heaps of huge water dragons everywhere,not sure if they are out year round?another good place we went was o`reilly`s at laminton national park,abit of a drive inland up in the hills behind surfers,take your own sunflower seed,heaps of wild king parrots and crimsom rosellas come down to feed from your hand,head where ever.Saw a good shop in southport but can`t remember the name sorry,they had a tank full of juvenile barramundi inthere.

now you know why he put it in the reptile section???As for carting turtle water all the way to wellington,I would confidently say with the price of gas and all give it a miss!!!When you get there clean out your filter and start again,turtles arn`t going to quibble over a few dead filter bacteria??

I would do overnight courier in a box within a polybox or similar so it can`t tip over,marked fragile,this way up etc.Damp newspaper is all you need to pack around turtle,ideally it will cool off and just sit there.don`t give it alot of space to rumage around in and maybe wear through the damp cardboard etc.Send as late as you can and tell them to pickup from depot first thing ,otherwise they can have a tour of gisborne all day.
