  1. get some from biosuppliers and grow them on,does not take long.
  2. read the private trade & exchange forum or just PM Varanophile.
  3. so true alan, and if koi carp were of the same nature(edible and good sport fish when caught)do you think for one moment they would be on the noxious list?
  4. The bullhead catfish was imported and released into the waikato by the auckland aclimatisation society, they were meant to be channel catfish or some edible variety, they got sent the wrong sort and the rest is history??
  5. it was just getting interesting, could you not have just removed offending post?alot of people probably never even got to have a look?
  6. the worst thing I had noticed was the mods spelling?
  7. talkabout the nanny state?I did not see anything too bad?can they not delete the offending post rather than the whole thing?
  8. I did not see anything that would warrent removal?what have I missed, where is it gone.?
  9. your are contradicting yourself there aren`t you smithy?you need a court order to access pm`s then they can be somewhere else "straightaway"?thats crap and offers them a way to use private information only written here?people can also put crap on here that could be taken as gospel, like my breeding colony of chameleons, not to mention my breeding pair of green iguannas?
  10. how can you get the "same information" if it is contained within a "Pm"?
  11. yes to all that V,not hard to put a mark by your name and know when your due back,no point wasting the fruit dog on you bro??I know other hobbyists that have had similar treatment on their return to our wonderful country.maybe its time to head offshore to scaleier(sp?) pastures?
  12. baby locusts and or crickets would be the way to go.Salads of finely chopped dandelion, chicory, mesculan salad mix and a little finely chopped carrot now and again.Calcium powder can be dusted on to the salad and onto the insects before feeding.Vitamins are not such an issue if the live food is well fed but you can add a little every other week or so. As for temps they need a good warm bsking spot of 30ish and also room to escape the heat if they need or want to.UV lighting is a must and should be set up so they can get quite close to it,check back through the old postings ,there should be alot on this subject.
  13. I prefer artificial grass/carpet for little ones, something they can grip when they run around.have two pieces, take one out for a wash and use the other(don`t often need a wash rather just a shake out)
  14. 1.very social, don`t mind being handled. 2.let them get a bit of size about them incase of accidental jumping/falling etc,but handle them as soon as you can so they get used to it,I have a couple that were not handled and growen on and they are most unfriendly! 3.our cat ignores them but would not reccomend this sort of interaction?dogs could grab them quickly?no point to chance it? 4.Get one from a responsible breeder that won`t let it go till he knows its eating etc properly,6-8 weeks would be generally fine. 5.one is fine on its own and will be easier to provide the necessarries for,2 can lead to problems with dominance/unwanted mating etc etc. 6.I would go for a breeder that has bred before rather than a first timer that is out to make his fortune, you can also get old breeders that fall into that category.Petshops can be ok,theres always that other place but you want to get someone close to you so you can checkout their setup etc.
  15. why ask the question if you are going to answer it yourselves??they are worth what you will let someone pay you for them ?if it ain`t enough you won`t sell them???
  16. I just have to pick which one to sell?give me a day or two to select the one I don`t want??
  17. small hatchlings are just that...small.I prefer not to handle them at all if I can get away with it,one jump and they could do themselves harm?As for moisture I just mist them with a aerosol bottle, they seem to like it and lick the water as it runs down, sometimes squirt their rock and they squirm around on it.
  18. have heard of red mites on native geckos,do not know if there is an aquatic variety?
