  1. if you ever get one with a prolapsed penis, before taking to the vet sprinkle offending item with normal household sugar,it should shrink and shrivel up and retract before your eyes.Happened to a friends turtle and after much overseas vet to vet talk this was done and worked a treat.
  2. hey purplecat, try the small stream(drain) that runs paralel to the lower end of candia rd ,swanson.there are plenty of baned kokopu in there and bullies, koura, eels as well.
  3. barracuda have a parasitic worm that lives in their flesh, pretty disgusting when you see them crawl out of a fillet??craybait up this way.
  4. there is one ongoing just south of hastings, peka peka swamp restoration,fish7game or aclimatisation society would have more info ,also there is something like the hawkes bay reaforestation trust?based at haumoana, they have a nursery there and supply alot of native trees /shrubs etc to local schools, also the regional council has a big plantingprogram on the local riverbeds, taking out all the willows etc and replanting natives.sorry can`t be more specific.
  5. you can fill up your `spare`? space in the fridge with water bottles to even it out a bit,but a fridge being upright and quite big cavity you should have a little computer fan or something in there.Moving air is not generally a good thing for reptile eggs but you have them in containers so should be ok.
  6. hovabator still air,get them from the unmentionable place....$200.Get your live food production sorted before you even think about it!!!!
  7. gannet you loser??spelt spread wrong!!!!!
  8. should be sweet as,this time of year, not too hot, natural for them to sit there quietly, even if the box happens to get turned over they can right themselves.
  9. simple, place frog in a 2litre icecream container, cover with wet grass, wate weed etc etc, even damp paper towels, punch a few air holes in the lid(better do this before you put the frog in??)grass should be enough that the frog as not much space but has to burrow amognst the grass etc.Now put your container in side another slightly bigger cardboard carton etc and pack around the sides with crumpled newspaper to hold the first container in place, leave as much air space as you can,you just want your first container jammed in position if you get what I mean. Now put your address on it ,mark it this way up,fragile and send it,don`t necessarily tell them its a frog as that is not a need to know and could cause rejection by your courier.
