    my goldfish

looks like what I call a comet, complete with long flowing fins and tail?
  2. would that be your girlfriend K?
  3. just like us with our hair Mark?
  4. this is what I do,just a shallow cardboard carton
  5. lets just stick to the locusts for now, beardie guy,try your doctor or health professional! if your temps are not in the low 30`s this can happen,I use your normal see through throwaway drink cup, have seen polystyreen coffee cups used but prefer the others which are slightly deeper and you can often see the eggs down the side.Take your egg cups out weekly or even as soon as you have eggs till you get the hang of it.
  6. tryed to ring.....no such number????the plot thickens?
  7. I can give them a ring, seem to remember something about them going away some where?
  8. seen that happen more than once, not to mention the mind games they play with each other with dominance, can be totally unnoticable, till one day you realise one is twice the size of the other.Have even heard of one that dissapeared from its tank, the other was sold and the tank broken down for transport.....whats this skinny little dried up looking thing?oh,just the other beardy that has not been seen for 3 mths hiding away not eating or drinking hanging onto his miserable life by a thread. He was nursed back to health and survived but only just.I now advise one on its own where possible.
  9. I would say too much heat and humidity without evem seeing your setup, especially at this time of year?Go easy with the boiling water on your tank too.....crack!!!!
  10. now and again the odd one seems to get caught short or whatever.they just dry up and are no good.check your sand is not too dry?change it weekly, but by the end of the week probably over dry anyway.
  11. make sure they have access to a land area ,this is what they naturally want to do.
  12. one teaspoon per 4.5 l`s should do it.
  13. sounds like a fun trip, without wanting to pour cold water on it too much,do not condone the catching of Giant kokopu in your area where their survival is not exactly gauranteed?not sure of the legalities of it either but morally think it should be questioned?I have been in awe of this species for years but even when the oportunity of captive bred specimens arose could not gaurantee confident keeping of it here so flagged the idea.just my opinion.
  14. I used pretty much the same method as alanmin, but a bit more ruthless, fed them up well separately, put them into a fresh tank with no gravel, just a potted plant or two.cold water turned the heater on when I put them in,next morning as the temp comes up away they go ,better with 3 males to each female, works for peppereds as well.start them on brineshrimp, microworms small daphnia, they seem to do better on anything live rather than flake etc,I suppose thats true for most? They do eat the eggs although not straight away, make sure they have finished before you take the parents out, sometimes you get huge numbers, other times can be a bit sporadic?

  16. at least they have better shells than Quasimodo???
  17. make sure you check is indeed female?the siblings are turning into boys???
  18. talk about inflation????I swapped that critter for one bearded dragon??
  19. don`t know about the waikato, the water would be a bit murky for it I would think?maybe southwards of hamilton in the hydro lakes? What is the variety/species of the one that grows in the meola creek around the akld zoo area?have seen some long leaves on those plants?
  20. what is she gannet?frog?Fish?Lizard?common give us a clue!
  21. don`t worry fishboi,I hear they are getting some more soon.......from Ti Point???
  22. thats so true varanophile, also add to that gopher or texas tortoises that have been here and in private hands for yonks.I have a friend of over 50 who was given one for his 10th birthday.Taken to Ti point to attempt to breed and unfortunatly died there.Another I have heard was recently aquired by the hamilton zoo from an old lady who had her`s for years as well. Why did it go to Ti point?because they are now apparently a containment facility(zoo) species only,ei none in private collections???
