    Sick WCMM

try dropping the temp a bit, have you reacently used a worming medication in the tank (or anything else) when I had my outbreak reacently a few acted a bit like that before keeling over (never did find out what happened, everything ok now and new ones were fine last I saw)
  3. got the manual, its kinda sad one though, according to the del sol groupies the only one thaqt shows del sol's properly is the official honda on, which is gonna take 6 weeks to order in. but good news is I have found the exact point behind the number plate which you can drill through and acess the mechanism easily, will wait till sunlight to do it though
  4. lol, male has decided one of the females (the one he has never seen before) is his best mate. both the girls are really fat now (and my tank is really clean), really need to sort out something to lay eggs on, thinking fake plants due to my lighting situation. (was hoping they would lay on the glass as has been reported) strangely enough they are not going for the algae wafers like they used to, still munching back on anything growing on wood/glass, and picking at the left over flake from the leopard fish. been a bit busy last couple of days, hope to be able to spend time watching and thinking tomorrow
  5. wow, sounds like a right....... people like that make me ashamed to be people
  6. well said hali, I'm sure a lot of people here would shudder if the recalled their first attempts, mine was a black moor in a 10L bowl when I was 5yrs old, lasted a full 3 weeks. second attempt was a properly set up community tank, I think the last of the original occupants was a kuhli loach of around 7-8 years old (wonderful staff member at a local (and now closed) pet store set me up and helped me fund it by buying my guppies for 50c each). one person who tried to teach instead of trying to make money and look what happened ...
  7. plus the horns can get stuck in things, especially if you use the square "deer" fencing
  8. ahhh... the joy of cichlids, so much personality, great untill you meet a psychopath
  9. welcome nice setup, you've obviously done your research on your fish choices, however, ime mixing honey and blue gourami's will cause a few problems with aggression unless there is losta hiding places and things to break line of sight. I would consider upgrading the filter too eventually, a small canister filter would work well
  10. i enjoy it because He doesn't seem to get that no one likes him.
  11. yeah, it only has the petrol cap popper, and only one cable running to it, the coathanger hasn't worked yet, but lotsa people have opinions on how to use one, and the cops prefer it if I do it at a private address now im scratching my head a bit, will try a few more things before bringing out the hacksaw blade
  12. the panda apisto was imported as nijsseni
  13. ok, I did it, impulse bought a sports car on Trade me  a 1992 Honda Del Sol, bright red well just got it back and It has a couple of small issues (which I knew about first) but most of these are centered around the fact that someone has at somepoint removed the lock barrel for the boot and now I cannot open it, I canncan ot access the compartment from the inside due to a firewall, and there is no internal boot release (that I know about) my only option that I can see is to poke around with a coathanger through the hole where the lock is and see If I can hit the manual realease on the inside. any other Ideas???? and if anyone owns one can they post a few pics of the latch mechanism so im not poking round blindly???
  14. avoid the wardley pleco tabs, I have never seen a food snubbed by everything like that one, had to clean up every single one I fed, even the silver dollars weren't interested
  15. reminds me of the queensland groper outbreak in Townsville, ended up being a strep infection Streptococcus agalactiae
  16. +1 to the salt, but use a lower dosage especially as you have the bristlenose in there. avoid most medications as loaches can be sensitive to them
  17. you could try just one massive school of tiger barbs, of all the varieties you can find, I got a smaller tank set up like that and it looks stunning
  18. very nice base to play with, imo if you want the dwarf gourami's, don't have the tiger barbs with them as they will nip at the gourami's feelers (and the rest of them) If you really want the tigers as well, go for a larger school of around 10-15 so they play with each other instead of the gourami's. ime its fine mixing the gourami's as long as you don't try adding a female.
  19. start with water quality, do a good size water change, and check your basics first, could just be a skin irritation from the water. any pics???
  20. I don't see anything controversial here... IMO, if he wants to good on him, I won't buy them and as long as he doesn't try selling them as pure strains of something, then it isn't going to affect anyone.
  21. beveled edge is the fancier and nicer version of sandpapering it off then there is polished bevels, which are just getting ridiculous
  22. Im not implying that beginners are idiots, we all have to start somewhere, but the number of people who I hear say "tropicals are too hard" is amazing, they hear the word ammonia and bacteria and think its all hard science, I find 10year olds are great as they are keen as to learn, its the parents that struggle most of the time, mainly because they get spooked by what sounds difficult but is really easy.
  23. lol, If only all the beginners thought that way. most important thing is to make it sound easy or no one will listen. make your target market 10yr olds and their parents, If they can get the basics without being scared off then you are onto a winner.
