  1. Which algae is it? Different algae grow under different circumstances. Could be too much light, too much fertiliser, etc. Might be cheaper in the long run to give the pond some shade :slfg: As for pond treatments, every pond that I know of has algae... And it's always thick.
  2. Has anyone used a paintball cylinder for CO2?
  3. Didn't you miss the last meeting??
  4. If I did, It would be baby's first demonstration of Daddy getting smacked with a jandal.
  5. I'll email my design through, sadly I won't be able to make this meeting. Gonna have a new bubbs to look after.
  6. 300 5050s over 5m. You might want a few strips if it is to replace a quad t8.
  7. When I did my research on getting my first tank, I noticed that Animates had expensive equipment, but cheap fish. I think the cheap fish get people in the door. After losing my first two bristlenose from them, and them blaming my low pH, I have not bought from them again. I find I would rather pay $4 more for the same fish and know that a competent staff member is looking after them.
  8. Much cheaper Zuri, both in setup costs and running. It is a very nice light. Do you think there is much light lost by having them this high above the water? Would bringing the top of the hood closer to the water change a significant amount of lost light?
  9. The T8s made the water look green. I had a standard "cool daylight" bulb and a tropical "sunlight" bulb.
  10. Blue tinge is ONLY in the tank. Could be the water. :dunno:
  11. Yea, but they're the same ones you can get from eBay for MUCH CHEAPER
  12. They don't seem as bright as the T8s. However, it is a much cleaner light. Has a blue tinge to it, even though it is on the white setting. The blue setting is a very dark blue.
  13. As I said, I will have to check, but I think it is 1kPa DEAD load and 2kPa LIVE load. Sorry, meant to specify the two earlier. For those who aren't sure of terminology... DEAD load means your not moving it. LIVE load is like someone walking through the lounge, they're not going to be in the same spot for a long period of time.
  14. I don't think we have any proper retail marine setups here in the bay. Kiwipetz has one tank, but I'm not even sure that the stocked fish are for sale. Marine would have a lot more demand in Tauranga if people could see what they can put in those tanks. However, as mentioned, high setup costs would be a big deterrent. But being able to buy locally would be better than needing to travel or pay shipping?
  15. I will check my copy of 3604 when I get back to work tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure most floor joists are set up to take a minimum of 2kPa. This works out to be 200kg per square metre.
  16. Ancistrus are very sensitive to salt. However, results vary depending on the individuals. (Which I'm sure we don't need to remind you of)
  17. most of the 3528 SMD LEDs are 3 LEDs in one, made up of red green blue. In that combination they can reach almost any colour required.
  18. The yellow bristlenose are not hardier than the brown. It is simply a colour variation, like you would expect to see in guppies. As for why your brown bristlenose are dying, are you feeding them a pleco tablet or just fresh food?
  19. My wife was assured it was only going to be one tank... a few fish... ... Birds would have been noisier and messier.
