I'm pretty sure you can use whatever media you want in the jewel filters, don't quote me on that though. Isn't that a pretty high price for a 2nd hand Rekord tank, I am pretty sure I have seen them brand new cheaper than that?

I think tank is now fully cycled, for the last 5 days all of the test readings have stayed the same; pH - 6.8 ammonia - 0 nitrite - 0 nitrate - 10-20ppm KH - 4dKH GH - 53.7-71.6 I am having a problem with all of the normal java fern melting though, not too sure what's causing it as the windelov and narrow leaf versions seem fine at this stage. I am hoping it is just adjusting to different water conditions then the tank it was grown in before I bought it. I will leave the rhizomes attached to the wood and see if they start growing again.

Was in dunners yesterday and visited every pet store, real sad range of stock they all had. Makes our LFS look real good anyway....

Make sure the bath is 100pct free of any soap and cleaning product residue, If I were you I would still rather go with putting them in big storage bins. If your worried about the fish jumping out just put the lids on them and run an airstone for oxygen.

Cheers man, yeah seen those discus they have taken the price down to $163 each but wouldn't consider doing a decent price on all 3. I have asked them countless times to order fish for me with no luck so kind of got no choice but to get fish shipped to me. Diacks will order fish for anyone if they can get them from their supplier, they actually have a decent selection that they have access to. Only thing is it can take a fair few months to get them to do it for you as they will only do it when they need new stock. Greg who works at the Tweed Street one will give you a list if you are interested, had a few different cichlids on it last time I looked.

Yeah, I don't like buying any fish from the LFS dude. I would rather pay extra and know I am getting better quality stock then they seem to have. I refuse to buy a fish from them when there is always a few dead fish in every one of their tanks.
