  1. Because every recipe I have read for 4dkh states I have to use distilled water.
  2. Checked all the labels at the local pak n save and none of them seemed to be distilled, closest I could find was still water which is no better than the water out of the tap for my purposes.
  3. Distilled water should be 100% pure H2O.
  4. Looks great, keep us updated on how it turns out. Always wanted to make a xmas moss tree.
  5. Sad thing is there were probably more suppliers and breeders down here around that time We only have 1 dedicated pet store that sells a pretty limited supply of tropical fish and one kid on trademe who breeds and sells a few mongrel guppies constantly. The nursery shop sells a few tropical fish but they're only small time, maybe 10-15 different species at any given time.
  6. Its for a ph drop tester, so it doesn't matter what it would do to the fauna anyway as it will never come into contact with them.
  7. Hey guys and gals, does anyone know where I can purchase distilled water from either locally (Invers) or over the internet? I want to make up some 4dkh solution.
  8. Not particularly special in any way, just clean colours and nice patterns. As to why they were bought imported, if you lived in Invercargill you would understand.
  9. It is when you consider most companies have a minimum charge for call out fees to cover all costs.
  10. In the last few months I have lost nearly 100 guppys, these are all males/females/fry. Every one of them came from imported stock supposedly so there must be some type of disease or maybe genetic problems? that they come here with, I have noticed it can't be contagious though as all the other guppys that I keep that arn't from imported stock all look healthy as, even in the same tank. Fingers crossed anyway.
  11. :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: I guess someone had to say it.
  12. The lot from Hamilton was dropped at depot after 4pm and I rang posthaste around 11am the next morning and they were about to deliver them, not sure what time the lot from Auckland was dropped off at depot but I rang them around 9.30am the next day and they were there. Both times I went and picked them up though only because I couldn't wait till the delivery driver got to my house :slfg:
  13. In the last couple of months I have had fish shipped to me twice, once from Auckland and once from Hamilton, both times fish arrived in perfect condition, only lost one but that wasn't the couriers fault. Cost me $35 both times incl. box, heatpads etc. That was through posthaste and both were here within 24 hours of them being dropped off. As long as they are bagged and packed properly you should be fine even in these temperatures, what sort of fish are you looking at getting shipped? Mine were dwarf cichlids and small plecos.
  14. You the man dude! I'll take them all, male and females lol
  15. Ive seen people keep goldfish in tropical tanks before for many different reasons, don't think its healthy for the fish though as it does speed up their metabolism. They all looked really healthy though. Goldfish are pretty forgiving as long as you slowly acclimatize them to whatever temp you want to keep them in.
  16. Also you should add your location to your profile dude, so people know where you are located and you can get better information from people about places around you that might help you out.
  17. You purchased that from HFF though didn't you si? Also yes souffle I probably would but I seriously don't know if it would be worth it once you take all the other costs into account like getting the bottle tested, replacing the fittings to be able to fit a regulator and shipping etc. I did however see one on TM earlier today, here is the link; http://www.trademe.co.nz/building-renov ... 337419.htm
  18. I'm in love  Seriously I would dump my partner for that setup :slfg:
