  1. "Veal is the meat of young cattle (calves), as opposed to beef from older cattle. Though veal can be produced from a calf of either sex and any breed, most veal comes from male calves (bull calves) of dairy cattle breeds. There are five types of veal: Bob veal, from calves that are slaughtered when only a few days old (at most 1 month old) up to 60 lb.[2] Formula-fed (or "milk-fed") veal, from calves that are raised on a milk formula supplement. The meat colour is ivory or creamy pink, with a firm, fine, and velvety appearance. They are usually slaughtered when they reach 18–20 weeks of age (450-500 lb).[3] Non-formula-fed ("red" or "grain-fed")[4] veal, from calves that are raised on grain, hay, or other solid food, in addition to milk. The meat is darker in colour, and some additional marbling and fat may be apparent. It is usually marketed as calf, rather than veal, at 22–26 weeks of age (650-700 lb). Rose veal UK is from calves raised on farms in association with the UK RSPCA's Freedom Food programme. Its name comes from its pink colour, which is a result of the calves being slaughtered at around 35 weeks.[5] Free-raised veal, The veal calves are raised in the pasture, and have unlimited access to mother’s milk and pasture grasses. They are not administered hormones or antibiotics. These conditions replicate those used to raise authentic pasture-raised veal. The meat is a rich pink color. Free-raised veal are typically lower in fat than other veal.[citation needed] Calves are slaughtered at about 24 weeks of age." From wikipedia
  2. Guppys seem to be one of the hardest fish to keep alive in the last few years, all the ones I have bought from the LFS have kicked the bucket pretty quick even though all the water perimeters are fine.
  3. Give me a good ol' piece of chocolate mud cake any day!
  4. Pretty much nails it down to using soapy water to clean it then I think.
  5. I would say it is the soapy water, try using vinegar next time you clean them out. That's what I use and then thoroughly scrub it using cold water. Any soapy residue is enough to kill fish especially in a small tank like that. Also have you made sure the heater was working? Did you let the tank heat up before you added the guppy? Last but not least did you use a filter from another tank or is it one that hasn't been running for awhile? Tank is probably not cycled enough to add even guppies if that's the case.
  6. Maybe get one of those cheap co2 fire extinguisher bottle holders? Or use some of those big pipe clamps that can be adjusted with screws?
  7. Five Finger Death Punch - Under & Over It.
  8. Was going to get some awhile ago but read that it can't stand higher temps, it's a shame as I would have loved to have some in my new planted tank.
  9. I agree completely, Trademe has turned real greedy since fairfax media purchased it. It has been losing money for a few years though that is why they are deciding whether to sell a few shares I think.
  10. As the comments state, Trademe has had a lot of competitors but they never go far as Trademe is too well known and most people/business's that list on there have spent a long time building up reputations and a strong customer base. Sella is the only other website that has managed to stay around and it's not that successful. Even if Wheedle does manage to launch successfully and stay around for awhile they will eventually have to charge the same sort of fees that Trademe does just to cover costs of running a successful internet company. Good luck to them though and I will check it out anyway.
  11. I've got a couple otos that I have had for about a year, they're all fine and healthy. One thing though is I have never once seen them eat any food that I have fed them, they seem to get enough just cleaning the glass and rasping on wood and leaves. Can't wait to get a few more.
  12. I wouldn't invest in it anyway, I don't see it going very far.
  13. Can you get a link to p44's tank build thread Joe, can't seem to find it?
  14. T5's anyway. Think 48" T8's still use 48" tubes.
  15. Because any 48" fitting takes 46" bulbs..... http://www.hollywoodfishfarm.co.nz/deta ... -46/m/931/
  16. Yeah they would fit but I am after brand new ones and they are not suitable for freshwater planted tanks. Also kind of thinking of just using these; http://www.fetchalamp.co.nz/light-bulbs ... 865ho.html Anyone know if they would work well with growing plants? 6500k should be alright shouldn't it?
  17. :sml1: The truth is if you have ever eaten a chinese meal from a take away place you have probably tried cat. I remember one of the fish shops being closed down down here a couple years ago as they found skinned and gutted cats hanging up around the back where the owners lived, they claimed it was for personal use but who knows. I did find myself really liking their sweet and sour pork though.....
  18. They are GLO brand, they finally arrived today after weeks of waiting for the seller to actually ship them. They came with Glo PowerGlo T5 High Output 54w Tube 115cm 46inch but I don't think these will be much good for growing plants.
  19. Oh lol, I stand corrected. I'm a firm believer in trying everything once,(within reason) can't imagine axolotls tasting too bad really, probably like chicken :slfg:
