  1. all sorts of sizes but yeah 3-4cm is about the biggest i find
  2. +1 i can usually get around 50 - 100 of them in an hour at my spot my cichlids love 'em
  3. they are both quite fun shows to watch. there are some real characters in the fish keeping world. the crew from tanked have superb on screen presence. a lot of it is scripted but i still lol'd. i think .. actually i know that people who are not into fishkeeping would enjoy watching this show. fish tank kings is almost identical in concept. just with a different chemistry among the characters. seems to be more serious, more drama, more subtle comedy. i like how they are always rolling their eyes at the fish geek  best thing about these two shows is that they help promote the hobby."any publicity..."
  4. all the eggs have disappeared today. hope they try again.
  5. ^^this is why nz native tanks are so rad last weekend i saw a few different (obviously) hybrids for sale at one of aucklands most popular LFS, they were advertised as "other" for $10. none of them looked very nice at all. my mate has a completely warped parrot/convict.. its mouth is off to the side and its face is twisted, fins in the wrong place... but it is the boss of the tank, plump and bold fish. (kinda cool imho) if you are going to breed hybrids you need to be comfortable with kulling a lot of fry and even grown fish in order to select the cream of the crop. because chances are most or all of them are not gonna be good looking fish. "keeping fish thoroughly entertains my god complex" -anonymous.. 8)
  6. we shouldn't mess with evolution. but we can play with it, can't we?
  7. this is a thread to state your opinion and thoughts on cichlid hybrids. a somewhat controversial topic it seems. of course they often occur unintentionally in the aquarium hobby, but some of us are breeding hybrids intentionally and this is where i am interested to hear your thoughts. while some of us fantasize about possible results of hybrid fish, i have also seen people so opposed to the idea that they have launched personal attacks upon others. let me be clear - opinions are welcome, judgement is not. let's keep this polite and constructive. breeding hybrids - yay or nay, and why?
  8. oh, right. i don't pay a lot of attention to much at all really.
  9. i would totally steer away from using any chemicals or products to buffer PH especially in a planted tank. buy some small coral rock pieces from your LFS, and put them in your filter.
  10. it is now for sale... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =529483531
  11. i think some people put a cloth bag of shells in the filter to help buffer it
  12. some cool looking fish there..
  13. nope.. i don't do brown nosing, and he's got nothing i want (except for his stash of home brew).
  14. death metal has developed gradually, it has become more direct, tighter, harder, more refined and less refined at the same time... evolving into its newest form, not by process of evolution, survival of the fittest, but by process of time and willing changes to the human race... survival of the most brutal, most bloodthirsty music is how it shall progress. hail satan. music - in any genre - can only evolve, develop, thus unless to a small mind, it can only get better...
  15. as a german i am amused
  16. ... and long walks down the beach.
  17. it's not really something you can ask google directly... i mean.. i spent a while trawling through the interwebs looking for info on what kind of fish come from lake vic and i didn't turn up much at all. it might not be a big deal and i might just be drunk but why does nobody talk about fish from lake vic?
  18. tonight as my jag brews her breed, i've been working on my own vibrations, alternate picking in particular... feel this...

  20. such a cool show! it's super interesting to see them deal with their customers strange requests, overcome tank building challenges etc. it's rad to see the selection of fish they have over there.. and those two guys... brett mostly, make it for a fantastic show!
  21. exceptional biological establishment. excellent poop build up, a complexity towards the delicate boquet of aroma. sludge looks high grade. side sticking squiggles are calm and balanced with well defined overtones of oak origins. good weight, sophisticated and harmonious on the palette. i'm picking location to be middle northern to east area. a drop i should love to revisit had i the time or opportunity.
