  1. yeah my comment is based on personal experience. the 15-20cm fire eels i have had never really grew at all. the one i bought at 20cm over four years ago is still in my friends tank and is still the same length, just a little fatter is all.
  2. would it be expensive to do a DIY concrete platform in your garage? assuming you own the house. why not do that instead, this way you can ensure that the ground it is sitting on is both strong and completely level
  3. cam - what's the difference between putting paper on cars in a carpark, and putting paper on the ground in a car park. neither are their property. posting bills is illegal in public places. why is it not illegal to post bills on private places? oh wait... it is. i want to also point out that in this particular pamphlet, it clearly threatened that gay marriage would lead to higher healthcare costs, due to higher rates sexually transmitted diseases caused directly by gay marriage. now i'm not exactly educated but i cannot see how that can be a result of gay marriage any more than it could be a result of straight marriage.
  4. they did it all throughout auckland. waste of paper imo. i wouldn't be surprised to learn that there are laws against unsolicited advertisments being put on cars
  5. everybody reads things that are on their windscreen. they were trying to spread their hateful opinion. i'm not exactly gay but i have no tolerance for people that discriminate against gays, or anything for that matter.
  6. everybody is entitled to their opinion. but they are not entitled to force their opinion on others. see "hate mongering"
  7. walking to work, found that some church had put anti gay marriage pamphlets on all the car windscreens in takapuna carpark. took me a good 25 mins to go around and remove them all. dear christians: hate mongering is NOT OK.
  8. fire eels are choice, and usually don't grow much longer than 30cm. unless it's in henwards tank, of course.... haha
  9. i was excited to visit butterfly creek. but sorely disappointed. aside from my kids seeing goats mating goat style, the tanks were boring and filthy. they were very big tanks, but really nothing to talk about. i would definitely suggest visiting bird barn.
  10. weird. my blue tongue appears to have gone into hibernation already.
  11. close, but it's a bit more like this...
  12. great looking tank bro, very natural
  13. i also use flourish excel (get it mixed up with flourite all the time) and i can vouch for flourish working really well. i don't use much, half the recommended dosage, it was $40 for the bottle but has lasted me a long time. smells like soy sauce. nom.
  14. oh and can you steal me some hand towels? my daughter used my good ones for painting...
  15. may as well throw a tv out the window while you're there.
  16. my plants are cranking with a mix of 1 part flourite to 3 parts sand... edited because i'm a dummy
  17. im heading out to catch some more shrimp this weekend, if anyone from auckland wants to join me i'm using them as live food for a few cichlids i'm trying to grow out fast
  18. africans are not gonna like low ph. keep the water tuned for the africans, the convicts will be sweet in high ph
  19. yeah i just give things to my kids to chew on for a while so i know that it's ok to put in the tank
  20. choice bro. it shows how easy it is to set up a decent enclosure for a reptile. i expect that you have a much larger one planned for the future. i imagine it would be of only a little more effort and expense to build one five or ten times the size. 8)
