  1. I have a whitebait that came with some native shrimp. All the shrimp have successfully (or not in some cases) transfered to the warmer water tank so all I have left is this little guy. In hte last few days he's really taken off and is no longer completely transparent and his pectoral fins have come in. Unfortunately I need to break down the tank so he either needs to be re-homed (I'd rather put him down than try to put him in the warm tank). Does anybody want him for their native tank/pond? He's about 3-4cm long at the moment and has pretty much doubled in size in the last week. Here he is in the tank
  2. arse. That explains why they fight all the time. Anybody want a male cockatoo?
  3. I think I got 2 males as well but was told they were a pair. Here are the pics The bigger one is definitely and I assume the smaller one is a male too. Am i right or have I got a flashy girl? (I can't figure out how to do the image thing, what's the trick?)
  4. 7m x 5m is a good sized room. I'd like to check it out / snorkel in it once it's set up.
  5. It's best if it doesn't cure entirely in place so I don't have to chip it off if I ever change the config of the tank. I figured if it gripped anywhere near as well as silicone does to perspex (not well but enough in low pressure situations) it'd be sweet. I just need to be able to use it with the fish already in the tank as I don't have spare tank capacity at the moment. If i'd have thought about it I would have siliconed it down before I added substrate and water but you learn these things later
  6. Hi, I need to secure a perspex divider in my tank as it keeps lifting off the bottom. At the moment I only have substrate on one side so could easily use something aqua knead-it to secure it to the glass bottom. I figure if I use a bit it'll hold it in place and I can then cover it with the substrate for the other side. The tank currently has fish in it. Will the knead-it be a problem or is it totally cool to use? I note a lot of people use it in salt water tanks for rock to rock but will it work for perspex to glass like silicon would? Thanks in advance
  7. I didn't even know what they were until I spotted the ones in my tank. Then yesterday I noticed every tank at HFF is infested with the little buggers. It'll be good to have a few though for aerating the gravel. I don't think they came from you though - they're growing too fast to have been in there since then. I blame the hairgrass from Animates.
  8. I spotted betafix in HFF a few weeks ago. strangely they don't keep it next to the melafix
  9. is that filter getting enough tank?
  10. Damnit! Now I'm even more confused. I'll have to get a pic of my suspect and post it up.
  11. Female? how old? I'm thinking I got one of those damned sleepers...
  12. Dr. Hibbert: Troy McClure? I thought he disappeared after that scandal at the aquarium. Louie: Hey, I thought you said Troy McClure was dead. Tony: No, what I said was: "He sleeps with the fishes". You see… Louie: Uh, Tony, please, no. I just ate a whole plate of dingamagoo…
  13. Ahh, that's true. I have never introduced any but I've pulled 3 MTS out of my tank int he the last 2 days. There weren't any on the swords from alan so they could only have come from the shop bought hairgrass. I'm hoping to have a bigger tank with clowns by the time they're a problem so I can set the clowns on them for a month or so to thin out their numbers
  14. Haha, I should have been more specific - I was looking at the mosquito rasboras as the pics on the net are awesome.
  15. Not sure but it looks like the same thing that got my guppies a while ago. I treated with melafix for 7 days and it all cleared up and hasn't come back.
  16. It's a trick! I tried this this afternoon and nothing happened. Don't be fooled by the rocks that I got.
  17. Hey P44 - I thought they were the one for me too but I spotted them in HFF this afternoon and they're nowhere near as colourful / awesome as I remember them looking in photos. Their colour is really subtle which I suspect could be enhanced with the right light (a bit of blue and a bit more red). Do you reckon they colour up as they get bigger / older?
  18. +1. here's the next word : Embarrassed
  19. ahh, ok, the oxygen thing makes sense... I'll see what I can do there. I'm going to leave the current batch in there for a week or 3 and keep the cold tank going to save a few just in case.
  20. I think you can get in tank skimmers which would help too. Live rock and a long wait (month+) for it to cycle before you can add any fish but I think it'd be worth it. I'm already dreaming about a marine tank, I say go for it.
  21. We have a winner!
