  1. ahh stink. I hope whoever bought it enjoys it, it looked awesome!
  2. I worked behind a bar in Ohakune a few years ago. When I first started I wasn't very fluent with moving around other bartenders or letting them move around me hence the name.
  3. I'm wondering which pet store has just replaced all it's tanks or closed down.
  4. I may be sailing there over 3-4 days if I can find 1 more crew member but I doubt the fish would last that long in transit.
  5. Nope, but I've got a trailer if you can't find a van.
  6. With a van you could get away with them all sitting on the ground as long as there aren't any seats in the van. Where's the pickup from? Let me know if you need a hand.
  7. cool, thanks. I'll go on the hunt.
  8. are the tinwini easily available? are they likely to be shop stock in HFF for example? I've found I need to see fish int he flesh to get a real idea of what they're like.
  9. Stingrays. Very very little ones.
  10. Hi, I've finally got the planted half of my tank sorted and it's got a black grit substrate. the other half is in white silica but because i've been planting and moving things around there's now a lot of black grit mixed in with it. I've got a ton of silica left so I thought I'd just syphon the current silica/grit mix out and replace with fresh silica. I know this will have an effect on the bacteria in the tank but will be a killer? it's approximately 50% of the substrate that will be replaced all up.
  11. the SAEs are often confused with Flying Fox and vice versa so if you see these in the shops that's what they're worth. I can't remember off the top of my head but we bought a Flying Fox that is definately an SAE.
  12. and re-homed! Thanks purplecatfish! I'm sure he'll love his new home and your tanks are amazing!
  13. +1 - I'm hoping my diy co2 setup sorts out the balance. I've had heaps of light, heaps of ferts and zero co2 which has only equalled slow growing plants and heaps of algae up until now. fingers crossed.
  14. I've had one on his own for a few months and he was a pain in the a*se to the tetra and really skittish. I put a new SAE in the tank on Friday and he's settled right down and the 2 of them now cruise around together keeping each other company and if they have a go at something it's usually each other. So the advice from me is "at least 2" helpful eh? Otherwise it sounds like a rad tank. I'd love to see it finished.
  15. What do YOU want to do? it's your tank... If it was me I'd be going nz marine with crayfish and snapper :P
  16. If he came with friends or could trigger a massive spawn that's exactly where he'd go.
  17. haha, no worries. He's going to the big pond in the sky tomorrow. Yep, all booked to pick up my lot on Friday morning. Sweet!
  18. yep, inanga fits the description. I've been feeding him and the shrimp some sinking pellets. He's been having a good go on it every few hours. If you're after it waterlogged let me know and I can drop it to wherever you're staying this week.
  19. I didn't, Sunbird73's kids caught them in New Lynn at a local stream apparently. Want a starter fish for your new native setup? Exactly. Hence the dilemma. Maybe I could sneak him around to a mates outdoor goldfish pond... He wouldn't appreciate that I'm sure.
  20. I just watched my bigger male eat a native shrimp who was trying to steal his bloodworm. I wondered where they were going and why he was growing so much faster than the other.
