  1. They go to individuals. PM me your full name and address and I will check if one was sent to you. I assume you belong to an FNZAS club?
  2. Current subscription price is $21.60. The AW is free for all FNZAS members. The following FNZAS clubs are... Kapi-Mana club costs $20 per year Upper Hutt club is also $20 My own club, Marlborough, is $10 student (under 16) $15 senior or $20 per family. You also get a monthly colour newsletter with this club, not sure about the others. The killi club is $15
  3. We discussed this in depth in Chat last night. BG uses rain water. She is doing some water changes with water from another source.
  4. WEEKLY!!!! (Caryl picks herself up off the floor) Thanks for the comments. Contributions are always gratefully received.
  5. Here is the reply from Warren Garret, owner of Brooklands who distribute this product for Aquarium Pharmaceuticals... We have had no problems with the catfish or loaches mentioned with Furan 2 in our experience. We have also checked with Aquarium Pharmaceuticals and they also state there should be no adverse reaction to Furan 2 treatment with these species.
  6. Thanks for that Cees, very helpful. Anyone else?
  7. I have emailed Brooklands (the suppliers) to see if they can answer this for you count.
  8. What fun! Corys will breed in temps 20 - 24C. Incubation is 4 days and you feed the young on newly hatched brineshrimp. You could also buy fry food for egglayers. When the fry hatch, lower the water level to about 10cm. The fry will feed at the bottom and surface, where they will swim belly side up. Adding 1tsp salt to every 50 litres of water will help survival rates. Weekly or fortnightly water changes of 2/3 of the water will make the fry grow faster. The fry are sensitive to some kinds of treated tapwater so it might pay to let it stand for 24 hours before adding it to the tank.

    Smelly Filter

Soak it in a bleach solution then rinse it extremely well.
  10. It says what it is in the link name you gave - an altispinosa. Microgeophagus altispinosa also known as a Butterfly Ram or Bolivian Ram It is a south American dwarf cichlid and grows to about 8cm. I have not got any but they are around.

    Just a Hello

Welcome wokey. What sized tank and how many fish (and what sort?) have you got?
  12. Where did I get 505 from ? Sorry, meant a 404, must have hit the wrong key without noticing (twice)
  13. You saw Andrew in a sober state??!! Congrats on the neons cat
  14. Hi there, I am useless at figuring out which filter to use on what size tank and aren't sure what a 91L tank is size-wise. If what you are using works, stick with it. Aquaclears are easy to set up, easy to see when they need cleaning, and easy to clean - unlike many of the canister filters. If you think yours may not be big enough, get a bigger Aquaclear. I have an Aquaclear 500, Fluval 505 and Eheim 2229 wet/dry. The only one that has given no trouble whatsoever, despite being several years old, is the Aquaclear. I do not know much about the brand you are looking at but having heard many talk about different filters over the years, it seems it is a case of 'you get what you pay for'. The cheaper ones use cheaper plastic and break more easily or readily than the others.
  15. GOOD NEWS!! I am finally able to start printing the November AW at last!! Looking on the bright side, it enabled me to add an update on conference destinations etc. They are printing as I type and I hope to get them posted by the weekend, or Monday at the latest. I am working the rest of the week which will hold things up but they will be out ASAP. Again, sincerest apologies for the delay.

    Flowerhorn

I would have thought the same Ira. I won't be buying them either.

    Eggs again :)

From that pic I would have first said they are both males but since you have eggs... The one at the back is the female and the front is a male. Males have slightly longer dorsal and anal fins. Looking at them, see how the anal fin on the back fish lines up with the end of the caudal (tail) fin but the fish in the front has an anal fin extending past its caudal. That is just my opinion of course
  18. Why would they prefer Vanuatu? Has it got something Fiji hasn't? I am only asking out of curiosity. Never having been out of NZ I can't compare them myself. I just wondered if there was something extra specal to see in Vanuatu? I understand he did the costings for Fiji as he was aware cost was an over-riding factor for many and Fiji had lots to do at a cheaper price than Vanuatu.

    Eggs again :)

You're getting good with that camera sue!

    RAINBOWS

No. I am very slack in the tank maintenance routine so they do not have optimum conditions  They are also in with a number of tetras, barbs and angels (I am fish sitting) so any fry wouldn't have much of a chance at survival.

    RAINBOWS

Melanotaenia lacustrus, M trifasciata, boesemani, praecox and McCullochi
  22. Thanks for that information Mark. Personally, I would rather go elsewhere as the Gold Coast doesn't interest me - too many people. Neither does any of the places you mentioned but I am sure I am in the minority there Majority rules.

    RAINBOWS

I certainly have them but they were given to me, I didn't buy them.
  24. We are working on that bit Alan. The fares there are certainly cheaper and they offer good family rates. The problem is more how to get around in a group once we are there. There is a lot of travelling from place to place as points of interest are spread out. In the islands, you just wander down the beach
  25. That last post was the information I have so far. Work is still being done on options so you can be presented with a range of options. At all times, costs have been the over-riding factor as we want to keep these as low as possible. By the same token, we also need somewhere with plenty of fishy things to do with venues you don't have to spend ages travelling to get to.
