I laid the sheet of glass flat on the dirt and kept them dark. When I lifted the lid there would be worms on the glass so I would just swish it in the tank then put it back on the culture.
I have the same sort as misnomer. We chose it as it had the best reviews for use in low light so takes better tank shots. We got an external flash and it makes a big difference.

The Aquarium World magazine is the only NZ fish keeping magazine and is produced for FNZAS members. It is available by subscription and not available in shops or overseas.
Dave Walker was breeding these by the thousands a few years ago. Not known them to be rare, I always thought they were available quite readily, but possibly they were back then.
I also have them around this way as I clean the sponge more often than the noodles so having it on top means I just pull it out, clean it, and put it back without having to romove the noodles first. I rinse the noodles every 2nd clean-out.
I have noodles and sponge in my AquaClear. I put the noodles on the bottom with the sponge on top to keep them in place. When the filter gets blocked enough that the water tends to flow out the side bit (where it shouldn't) and/or the sponge lifts the lid off the top, I clean it out.
I plan to use the other tank as a sump. By this I mean I will turn it into a large extra reservoir of water and make it a filter as well with baffles and filter media etc. This means the fish have a larger volume of water to live in and I will have a huge filter that reqires (hopefully) very little maintenance.
I have been keeping fish for about 25 years now so I guess you could say I have caught the bug
I was the first member of this site (Cees used me as guinea pig) which is why I have the highest post count. I am also a moderator here and an executive member of the FNZAS (Federation of NZ Aquatic Societies) as I am editor of the NZ Aquarium World magazine, produced by the FNZAS.
