  1. Thanks for those comments. I think I will talk to the lfs about whether they would be able to take back a couple of angel fish when they are older if there are problems (if I don't have a bigger tank by then!). I'll look into the danios also. What do others keep with their angel fish? MCT
  2. Hi all I haven’t been posting much recently as I am now working full-time (& hubby doesn’t like me to be on the computer ALL night). My son’s little tank is doing well with only the loss of one glowlight tetra that jumped out of the bucket during the move from Gisborne. As we are now settle in to our new home in Taupo it is time to reset up my daughter’s tank since she lost her last goldfish in an algae bloom while we were away at Christmas. My daughter is now interested in angel fish but I am wanted advice on whether the tank would be suitable for them. I am concerned that it may be too small. The tank is 500mm high, 750mm long and 300mm depth (a little over 100 litres). Is this too small for four angel fish, six corys, a bristle nose and six small tetras? Any opinions and suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks MCT
  3. You sound like such a softie! Good on you for taking in those poor goldfish. They will love a pond, especially if they are comets. I have kept leopard fish. These are small like mountain minnows but are livebearers. Some fry would survive with plenty of cover. If you go tropical, it only takes a heater and for a tank that size it would cost very little (especially through the summer!). Keep us updated whatever you decide to do. MCT
  4. I look forward to when you find your camera! I'm sure it's much tidier though. Well done. MCT
  5. Thanks, supasi. That was a worthwhile read. MCT

    Hi There

Welcome along! I am also here as a result of my children's fish tanks. Once we finally get moved and settled I might even get one of my own! MCT
  7. Does some of the water get caught in the stone garden in the corner? :-? Perhaps some guttering at the bottom of the fence to channel it back to your pond would work. Hope you can get it sorted. It looks great! MCT
  8. I'm glad he likes the pond. With lots of weed to hide in and lots of space he should grow quickly. Best of luck! MCT
  9. Hi Lani How long have you had your fish? If it is only a few weeks the fish could be experiencing some of the effects of the bowl cycling. You may require daily water changes for a while to reduce the amounts of toxins in the water while the tank bacteria catch up with the fish waste. Reducing feeding will help also. MCT
  10. Welcome along! I hope you can find a way to get a bigger tank so you don't have to give them away! MCT

    Gidday!

Welcome along! Your tank sounds like it has a nice mix of inhabitants. Good luck with getting plants! MCT

    Hi guys

Welcome along! Asking questions before you get your fish is a great start for your new tank inhabitants. I'm sure you will love having goldfish. The two main things to think about have already been mentioned - plenty of tank per goldfish and good filtration so that they can grow nice and big! Best wishes MCT
