  1. Hi Squirrelfish. Great you joined us .
  2. Hi Lorenzo Welcome to down under.
  3. HI Kass. I Hope we will see some photos of your community tank soon. MADDOG.
  4. HI Prison Shepherd. If you do come down this way soon could you please bring OUR Rugby World Cup with you --- We have fogotten what it looks like. Cheers. MADDOG.
  5. My Dwarfg flag rams are 1 year old now (AEquidens Curviceps). About 5cm --- 2 inches long. These fish were one of the rarest fish to find in the world in the 60s and 70s .I could not believe my eyes when I saw a pair in our local fish shop (WAINUIOMATA) $7 each. This Cichlid does not tear out plants --- Is great for community tanks --- and is not agressive but a little shy. Quite colourful as well. So maybe not so rare now. By The Way I have 1 female and 1 male. (they grow to about 3inches) HAS ANYONE HEARD OF THESE FISH AND DOES ANYONE HAVE THESE FISH. AND HAS ANYONE BREED THESE FISH. I Would like to here from you if you have DWARF FLAG RAMS. Thanks PETER.
  6. Sodium Biocarbonate does raise the PH and keeps acid down --- read my post properly.
  7. Sure it can ---- The hose can come off the check valve --- Same problem.
  8. I have the same trouble. You can add Sodium Biphosphate to keep alkaline down or Sodium Biocarbonate to keep acid down. You can Get these from your pet shop.Aqua Master ph down or Aqua Master ph up. Only trouble is the price these days. ( Might try your Vinegar ).
  9. The same thing can happen with air pumps. ALWAYS MOUNT YOUR AIR PUMP IN THE HOOD OR ON TOP OF YOUR AQUARIUM. WHY --- Because if the tube comes off the air pump water will siphon down the small tube and empty your aquarium. Not a great feeling if you have just returned from work to find your place flooded and all your fish dead. No it didnt happen to me because I caught it just in time.
  10. Hi Robyn and Janine. Hope you might send us some photos of your tanks one day.Im into community tanks as well. Welcome.

    Hi All

Hi Carl Look forward to see some photos of your Newts. Welcome.
  12. Hi Namish Glad your joining this side of the World. Welcome.
  13. Does anyone know a name of a good floating plant. ( Fresh Water.) Tropical. One thats hardy and looks good. Or are they not worth having.
  14. Neons ---( neon Tetra) are the one of the most colourful tropical fish. Like most tetras the are a very peaceful fish and great for community tanks. They like heavily planted tanks. The green - blueish band is one of the brightest know of all the tropical fish. They originate from the upper amazon and grow up to 40mm or 1.25 inches. Being a swarming fish it is best to keep them in a group of 6 or more.(usually 10 to 20) is best. Lifespan is 3 years and for breeding they must be feed on small live foods. Flies are good. They cost about a dollar each. They are one of my favorite fish and a must for a community tank. I once saw a tank with 150 neons in it and no other fish. When you moved your hand across the glass the neons moved like a wave.It was the most amazing thing to see.
