I have never really taken any notice of those things since we can't bring fish in. I have received similar from other supposed companies from other countries too. I also get invited to conferences and stuff :-? I always assumed they were legit but did not give them much thought.

Is it too late to add people? We may be able to make it after all.

Cover it well (Gladwrap perhaps?) so it has no gaps. What sort of filter has it got? It needs to vent outside. Either remove the filter (keep it wet somewhere) or make sure it is outside so it isn't sucking in the bomb stuff. Never bombed with a tank in the house so can't guarantee it is safe to do so.

And how many fry have gone down the plughole? I had a BN survive several hours out of the water once :roll:

Who would expect a fish to be stupid enough to swim into such a small place anyway? It would never occur to me to look for fish in the tube!

My tests things are too skinny for an idiot guppy to get into :lol: I am sure you were more affected than the fish and she will now be much hardier after her experience

Nelson shop prices are similar. We do not have a dedicated fish shop here, just a garden centre that sells some fish. We have extra freight and small population base here so can't get the cheaper prices offered by larger centres. To say a shop sucks just because it does not have the resources to get in every aquatic thing you want, all the best quality, at a low price is expecting a bit much Joe!

Maggots are fun to grow too and easy. Get a small bit of meat or pet food. Put it in one of those plastic containers with a clear lid (like they put salads in from the deli) and sit in the sun. Leave the lid off (this assumes you don't have pets or small kids who will eat it) for 24 hours to give the flies time to find it, then put the lid on, as it can pong a bit after a day or two The maggots grow quickly and are easy to pick out. Good for fish who are too big to take notice of white worms.

There are quite a few and the Wairarapa Club only went into recess 3 or 4 years ago. Doesn't mean they belong to these forums though. I can PM you some names of local fish keepers if you want to get in touch with some.
