If you put your location in your profile (through the User Control Panel) it would help when it comes to answering some questions - like whether you need water conditioner. Some areas do and others don't. Depends on your water supply and what, if anything, is added to it. As asked - how long has this tank been running? If it is newly set up then that is a lot of fish.

Mine was always in full sun with no problems.

So what sort of fish was it and what had he been feeding it?

Green water. Dried animal poo. Dried blood. Yeast

You need to watch for algae being transferred along with the critters, especially blanketweed which is common in many troughs.

I had some neons that lived 6 years. They should live a lot longer than 1!

There were a couple there I couldn't find the critter!

Personally I believe if you have a living creature depending on you for survival then $20 is nothing. The individual fish may not have cost that but the combined stocking must surely? If you cannot afford treatment for a pet (be it fish, cat or dog) perhaps you should not have one. If it was a kitten, would you balk at $20?

Make an omelette I don't think they sit on them all the time and can sit beside them as the warm sun will keep the egg warm enough while the duck isn't on it. If you move it off the lawn and it is abandoned she will soon lay another - hopefully out of the way.

You did the right thing. It is that stupid attitude they are trying to wipe out.

I did get out in the sun and visited the Mistletoe Market and spent money. Am now going to eat my lunch while sitting in the sun beside the fish pond and watch the fish eat too. 8)

How do you explain the number of people who can honestly say "We had a goldfish in a bowl when I was a kid. He grew over 10cm and hardly had room to turn around. When the bowl turned green we would put water in the kitchen sink and put the fish in there while we scrubbed out the bowl with soapy water, put new water in it then dumped the fish back in. We had that fish for years!" ? We did this when I was a kid and the goldfish seemed fine. I scrubbed the bowl with hot soay water and a quick rinse then refilled the bowl. We had bore well water so it was always ice cold. The fish never missed a beat. We only had him in the bowl for a couple of years though as dad built a pond and we put him out there.

Last time I was in Animates they had a big display of small tanks with pictures on them of too many large goldfish appearing to live happily within. When I complained to staff that it was false advertising and animal cruelty they said they agreed but repeated complaints to head office had been ignored. :roll:

Someone has asked if we can get a copy of the episode shown last Sunday (TV1 I think) of a programme called Damages. Does anyone know which series (3rd?) and episode (11?) it actually was?
