    New here.

Surely you have found a spare pool lying about doing nothing. It would be enhanced by some fish
  2. The Aquarium World is on hold until we hear from the clubs who are overdue. The magazine will definitely go out in Aug but it may be late August rather than the first week as is usual. I have the mailing list all sorted, apart from the missing clubs, so once we finally hear from them all (except AFA who have been in touch, thank you, and told us what the problem is and are doing their best to sort it) it will be all go! :bounce:
  3. Doesn't seem to be doing a thing so far &c:ry
  4. Sounds like you are doing all you can. I can't think what else to suggest except to say not to mix medications. Don't let the peas pollute the water. Remove all uneaten bits. Why are you trying to raise the pH?
  5. There is no club in the Coromandel. Are there quite a few fishkeepers in the area? Do you have local pet shops that sell fish? If you want to get a club off the ground we are happy to help in any way we can.
  6. I assume all the other fish are fine? How often has she had fry? Is she looking bloated at all, any redness about the anal area or gills? Is she still eating? Mollies seem to prefer a little salt in the tank so that might help. Not sure if 1tsp will do much though (although I have not looked up the amount suggested, this sounds way too little to me. See what you can find out about how much to add to the amount of water you have.)
  7. Hopefully it is not due to poor health. Perhaps the salt upset her and she will take a while to recover.
  8. They will alter colouring based on surroundings. If she is in a bare tank she will be paler than if she was on dark substrate.
  9. They can alter colour according to mood, health, or age and genetics.
  10. It appears AFA members will also miss out. Their list of names does not match the payment sent so far and they have not yet paid the club levy. As I wish to send numbers to the printers by Wednesday at the latest (and that is already a week later than the norm due to the tardy clubs), if payment has not been received in full then all of AFA will miss out on their August mag as we do not know who have paid and who have not. I assume they will have it sorted in time to receive the November edition! We seem to have problems every year with some clubs not getting the information in to us on time. All this information, and the capitations, should have been received by July 10th - that is 3 weeks ago! The other option is for everyone to get their magazines late because of these 4 clubs.
  11. Thank goodness for that. It is bad enough having to go to Facebook!
  12. For bruising and muscle problems. Better than Antiflamm apparently and very little, or no, smell - unlike other stuff like Deep Heat, Antiflamm etc.
  13. That appears to be so Sophia. They have it on special at my chemist at the moment so I will go and get some :happy2: It is apparently better than Antiflamm and won't stink of peppermint
  14. No idea as I do not belong to Twitter so can't see it. I am assuming that is it :dunno:
  15. Anyone know, offhand, if you can get arnica cream in the supermarket or do you have to go to a health shop or chemist?
  16. I think I read somewhere we were. I know we have a facebook page and I can see that but I do not belong to Twitter. What is the URL or whatever for the Twitter thing? Just want to update some contact info.
  17. Welcome back to the hobby and to The Fishroom. Note that we have a private trade and exchange section here for you to post your offerings. Make sure you read the rules first! 8)
  18. We have been reminding, then begging, clubs to get their details, capitations, membership lists and levies in. They should have been received by mid June. If you have paid your club fees but your club officers do not get the capitations in, you will not be on my mailing list and you will not receive your Aquarium World magazines. I am already late getting the magazine into the printer. I have to give him numbers to print. This is based on capitations received. It is too expensive to contact them after the main print run and ask for more to be printed. Therefore... if you belong to; Bay Fish and Reptile Club South Auckland Aquarium and Watergarden Society Wellington Aquarium and Water Garden Society chances are you will not receive your August magazine (at least). You will have to read it online. Those without internet access (who will not be reading this) will have to borrow a copy. If this concerns you, please contact your club officers and ask why they have not done their job! :an!gry ALSO: if your capitation has not been paid you will not get a Membership Card. These will be posted out, in bulk, to club secretaries - not sent with the magazine this year (it was too difficult to arrange). It is up to you to arrange to collect your card at the next meeting or arrange some way to get it if you are unable to attend a meeting.
  19. Cooking, ironing, washing? What are they? :dunno: Perhaps if you ask "the Mrs" to choose the fish you might have a better chance of getting another display tank.
  20. Some bacteria are hardier than you think and can survive as long as they are kept wet. I have cycled a filter on my home tank then unplugged it and transported it to ChCh then set it up on a new tank about 4 hours later then fully stocked the new tank with the appropriate stocking level. All was well and no fish were lost. I am sure there was enough bacteria in the filter to work on the new tank successfully.
  21. Sure there wasn't something acting as a wick and sucking the water out or something?

    Long Finned Corys.

I am not a fan of long finned anything but to each their own
  23. That is an awful lot of fish you have added to a small tank over a few days. Have you tested for ammonia, nitrites or nitrates? Did you use a pre-seeded filter?
