  1. Undie boy's groin injury IS NOT A TRAGEDY! It does not require many minutes of prime time news!!! Yes, I am sure he is disappointed but I do wish the media would keep things in perspective. It is just a game!!!

    The What's Up? thread.

Good luck with the shirt. Isn't it quicker and cheaper to just buy one?? I have supervised Grant in cleaning out the tanks (haven't been done for several months due to my injury) before our club meeting this afternoon. I now have a pile of Java moss to sell
  3. Article for the Aquarium World (with pics) anyone?

    Hey all :)

I have just realised none of us has mentioned you will need a much bigger tank for that rainbow shark
  5. I too have been wondering whether it is as good as it seems on the video.
  6. I don't think you can actually... Sounds like you can only feed the animals. Hmm.. There must be some irony in that someone in NZ can't just go out and milk a cow!
  7. I dunno Alan. The other receptionist at our work is a black belt and she gets lots of injuries. We also have a patient about to go for his but was sidelined more than once due to injuries. The funniest one was when he tore his shoulder demonstrating to the beginners the proper way to fall :sml1: The Foxy Morons did very well in the RWC round last night at Quiz with questions based on the RWC countries. Last week we got a bonus point for correctly identifying all the RWC uniforms (needless to say I did not contribute to that round!) We also won last night's event and are only 2 points behind the overall top scoring Microbes. The final is next week :happy2: :happy1:
  8. Find a small dairy farm then go and ask the farmer
  9. I would have thought the rugby players would have been seen out of hours if they are so important! Or, since I assume they have moved on, get their MRIs from a larger centre, like ChCh, that has spare appts and no need to delay someone else. At the very least, the MRI place could have chosen to delay two Nelson people, rather than two who had to arrange transport from Blenheim, a driver, and the driver's day off work! The other woman postponed will now lose her job as they can't hold it open any longer. The rugby players get sidelined, on full pay, with all the physio etc laid on and paid for and still get back on the team :an!gry
  10. Thanks to two rugby players who injured their poor wee selves last night, a fellow patient and I who have been desperately waiting for our ACC MRI scans, have been postponed another week as the rugby players take precedence!!! :an!gry :an!gry :an!gry :an!gry :an!gry :an!gry :an!gry :an!gry :an!gry
  11. Obesity is a medical condition in which excess body fat may have an adverse effect on health, leading to reduced life expectancy and/or increased health problems. You do not have to be extremely overweight to be classed as obese. Just your fat percentage is high enough to be affecting your health. It does not have to be too high to actually start doing this either. The Body Mass Index (BMI) is a measurement which compares weight and height, and is not the only indicator of health or obesity. Many people, eg weight lifters, will have a BMI out of the norm. I don't think there is any such thing as heavy bones, big boned etc. More important is where you carry the weight.
  12. That is not a laughing matter. The medical term "obese" means different stuff than - you are overweight.
  13. Once a week would be fine, as most normally do. Could be the slight temp drop that does it
  14. They like lots of water changes and I found this often triggered them off.
  15. Perhaps you could print off the stickied turtle care sheet to hand out to people.
  16. Have you ever checked the nitrate of your tap water? Mine is higher than that so I do not worry about trying to lower it in the aquarium as it is so high in the water source.
  17. Come on people! People have been predicting the end of the world (unsuccessfully I might add) since records began. Why anyone would take any notice, or be worried about it, is beyond me.
  18. They are fine on their own and I have also had groups of males who only fought over food. Never hurt each other though.
  19. To get the eggs fertilised you must first be sure at least one of the fish is male
  20. I cycled a filter on my tank then transported it to ChCh to put on a new tank. It would have been turned off 5 or 6 hours and no fish died when finally added to the new tank.

    Jumping fish

They are bubble nesters. Possibly they are attempting to spawn?

    Jumping fish

Mine have never moved that fast. They just mosey on up to the surface then drop down again.
  23. Mine don't. They breed all year round.
