  1. Poor kitty cat  It reminds me of that afv program where the cat waited for the door to be opened although it was a door frame with no glass in it. The owner would climb through and the cat would wait I noticed your time you posted, has your cat figured it out yet? Mine moved away from its spot onto my lap, was probably getting to hot there now
  2. Here is two pics I took about five minutes ago. Roxy loves night time and snoozing at the fireplace
  3. Not on trademe, I searched the name and got the kiwi that slipped on a banana
  4. :bounce: Yay my little guy/girl decided to suprise me with a hello mommy look for quite a bit. I got up very slowly to get the camera and was suprised that he/she was still there
  5. Thanks for the advice everyone. I would love to observe my chocolate zebra's without them looking at me all suspicious like. I think some days they think I wanna eat them or something, the looks I get is so serious
  6. Baie dankie Cricketman I still get very confused with some of the different words used here LOL It was the same I was looking for a light globe the other day it took them some time to figure out I wanted a light bulb Hehehehe sorry about that Caryl, that is why I thought of mentioning that english is not my first language in my siggy  That is what the guy did on the video, it does look like a nice easy option, I think if I do use that I would do it a day after a water change so there is little dirt and food debris in the stones
  7. I had a big one too years ago that had a tiger mom and her cubs on it. It took months to complete and once I thought I was done I found one piece missing, what a waste, I was very sad not too be able to find that piece anywhere, so eventually I let go and got rid of the puzzle only too found the missing piece in my vacuum cleaner when I did a clean up of it, it was dusty but in a good condition LOL How is that for Murphy's law?
  8. Hi, where does a person buy a red light to observe your fish at night? If you can't buy them what can you use and how would you use it to create your own red light.
  9. all of my fish are at 24, now with winter they are at 25 purely so the heater does not drop below 24 in winter, but I am getting antoher heater to add to the tank then I am back to 24. I found most pet stores kept their temp at 24 so that is why I picked that temp.
  10. He is just beautiful, Well done with your purchase
  11. Wow thanks for everyone's advice, I have taken all off the suggestions on board Just a bit weary of the hot tap water, is water from the geyser not bad for fish? If its not, well then its just fantastic
  12. Ok so here goes what I thought of doing. I thought of buying lots of buckets. In one bucket put my two choccies, in another the two bristlenoses, in another the harlequins, in another the glass catfish, in another the danio and cherry barbs and in the last one the guppy and sword fry ( have some I could not catch to take to animates) Now I know its a lot of buckets, but then I save some good bacteria water as well. Then I would have even more buckets to have some water saved, and I will just gravel vac the last bit of water and chuck it out, say about the last 20 persent or so. I will have to wait for a warm day so the buckets don't cool to quickly. Once the tank is water free I will remove the substrate and put the new ones in (which would be pre rinsed several times) Then I will add the buckets of water with no fish to start topping up the tank and then once that is done, replace the 20 persent water I took as usual and then slowly put the fish with their buckets of water back in the tank. I know I will have a lot of buckets, both Hubby and me are scout leaders so it will come in handy some day So what do you guys think, will that plan work, or do you guys have something better to suggest for me. After all you guys are more experienced than I am. Ooooh yeah and I must remember to re attach the bottom part of my background when the tank is empty and I am able to move it forward a bit edit http://www.ehow.com/video_5226058_chang ... rocks.html Just saw this, and was wondering what you guys think about that way mmmm might not be able to re attach the background then.
  13. Mine is zebra danio's. I had six and have only one little guy left :-?
  14. I found out why all my fish are dying and solved the problem My male swordtail is extremely .... now how can I say this politely .... well his hormones are working over time. I had three swordtails, one male and two female. I darkened the house and had only the one light in the tank on, hoping to see my little chocolate zebras have something to eat. When I saw quite disturbing behaviour from my male. He started of chasing the two females trying to mate with each and when they swam away not wanting too. He got violent and bumped into them very hard. He also bumped and tried to bite any fish that came close while he attempted to mate. I watched for a while to make sure that its him causing the chaos. And he even had a go at my bristlenose male which is big when he swam down to eat some algae wafer. So now I knew it was him. I went to wake my husband so that he could help me set up the small tank to put him in and then we noticed that the female sword he earlier bumped around was dead, probably stress from being handled that way. So now he is no longer in the tank and all the fish are more happy. Choccies even came out during the day to play. I think he might have bumped the danio with the cut into something in the tank, maybe the side of the bridge, and all the other fish had no marks on them and was in a good condition, so I think they just died like my poor female swordtail from being bumped the whole time. I could be wrong, but eitherway I am taking him and his offspring to animates. I will stick to small peacefull schools instead.
  15. Beautiful tank, love the choccies too
  16. I wonder if I can also chirp in here and ask for advice. I have a Canon powershot a75 camera (very old bought it 6 years ago). I have the exact same problem with pics being either blurry or that white flash light everywhere. I would like to enter contests for pics, but don't like sharing my not so well taken pics
  17. aww I am sure the little guy will be ok, you caught it early and is treating it well. I have put my big swordtail male in a seperate tank now, cause he is harassing my poor swordtail female and being agressive towards other fish in the tank. He needs a time out His hormones are on the run and needs some cooling down. I am considering giving my swords to my neighbour she loves them. But only once she sorted out her algae problem. My tank will look best with small schools and my pleco's. The swords kind off dominate the look at the moment. :-?
  18. :bounce: now you can look at the little guy whenever you want too. I love those short tunnels
  19. Hi BikBok Aww Poor baby Well think of it atleast while he is in quarantine you will see more of his cuteness I hope the little guy feels better soon. Mine are becoming quite active, my one seems to fancy my bristlenose female LOL He hangs out where ever she is and when she does the cleaning at night he even follows her around. My big bristlenose boy is not too fond of their relationship. He chases him off, Probably saying stay away buddy, I had her for seven months she is mine
