They are, kinda. They take about an hour to adjust to any changes in the tank, if you start the CO2 it will show on the drop checker around 1hr later. You need to half fill it with 4dkh water then add a couple of drops of the CO2 reagent that came with the checker. Position it in the tank at the opposite end to the diffuser and wait.

Enjoying a cold ginger beer and a bowl of sea salt and balsamic vinegar Shapes 8)
  4. I cut the roots of my crypts if I replant them, they grow fine and some say it even encourages stronger growth.
  5. Looking very three dimensional dude, I like it
  6. Very nice idea, well executed too! Will the sliding shelf hold the weight of that tank? Remember 1L of water = 1kg!
  7. How far are the lights from the bottom of the tank? How long are the lights running for?
  8. :gpo2: As far as I know, plants start to use CO2 as soon as the lights come on whereas CO2 takes a while to fill the water. By the time the lights come on, the CO2 has a one hour head start and giving the tank one hour for the plants to use the last of any remaining CO2 ensures the fish are kept happy and healthy  I just noticed your location, feel free to PM me if you wanna take a look at my tanks or visa versa, I'll be just down the road no doubt
  9. Personally for this tank I'd go with 10 Ember tetras or emerald eye rasboras and then 4-6 ottos.

No excuses now man, get this beast up and running!
  11. Plant only tanks need just as much, if not more flow than a fish only aquarium. However, the filter need not be capacious due to no fish waste. Powerheads only will suffice so long as you run a mechanical filter to clean up debris. Flow of fresh water around the plant's leaves are what feeds it nutrients, without flow of freshwater they will suffer and give in to algae, resulting in an unhappy planted aquarium! FNZAS! Where you get ALL the answers
  12. Thanks for the feedback guys! Not keen on how the rock work is being hidden by the hair grass, if I could grow glosso then I think that would be a better choice for this tank. Or stronger rock work of course
  13. What you really need to be asking is if you have a balanced aquarium. An aquarium where the CO2 is sufficient for the strength of the lights and the amount of nutrients the plants are receiving is what's required here. May I ask what lights, CO2, etc you are running or planning on running are?
  14. Neglected the tank a bit over the past half month, gave the sides a good clean with a dish washing brush and a toothbrush so I can actually see inside the tank now Algae seems to stay on the glass and rocks, moss and hairgrass both doing VERY well
  15. Looks awesome dude! 8)
  16. Hey there! I'm from Manurewa too
  17. Not what I'd pay for an aquarium either, he is further South though so maybe that justifies a higher price.
  18. I have no idea what a 2m tank should cost, I don't get tanks made that size, nor am I a glazier or aquarium manufacturer. Relax, I was just asking you how long ago you got it made seeing as the price of glass has gone up, I wasn't attacking you.
  19. How long ago was this? The price of glass has gone up dramatically over the last few years, reflected in the prices of all my new tanks.
  20. Thanks dude! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, tank owner rules so as long as you're happy with it 8)
