  1. Sophia and Neon were kind enough to take me out shrimping today, here are a few pics. A gambusia that was humanely killed after accidental capture. There were plenty of shrimp and the stream wasn't too cold, no really large ones so maybe the females are off in the ocean? The tank is absolutely buzzing with activity at the moment and I'll take some photos and/or videos when the lights come on 8)
  2. I'd recommend using fine leaved plants, small yet intricate stones and very fine substrate (sand) if you can. It is doable.. (from largest to smallest) http://www.akvaristikaonline.com/Octopu ... arinjo.htm http://www.akvaristikaonline.com/Octopu ... 20hill.htm http://www.akvaristikaonline.com/Octopu ... 20lake.htm http://www.akvaristikaonline.com/Octopu ... 0dream.htm http://www.akvaristikaonline.com/Octopu ... eadows.htm
  3. No good for any adult fish, guppy fry could be cool for an insane sense of scale though
  4. Not sure if the sense of scale is really bad or the 3L includes the filter too but that looks really small. What size is the part for the fish in cm (length x width x height)?
  5. Firstly replace any carbon that might come with it with more filter wool and/or biological media. Carbon is only needed to remove medication. In terms of substrate, it can be whatever takes your fancy really. I prefer a natural looking fine substrate such as grit or sand.

Welcome to the forums, can't wait to see photos of you tank(s) 8)
  7. Thanks Adrienne, means a lot coming from you Can't even peek in the windows if it is closed :nilly:
  8. Phenomenal growth especially in the foreground Those rainbows are way cool too 8)
  9. I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to my schooling fish so no thanks
  10. Is it open on Wednesday? Thanks Dave, this tank is exactly how I pictured it in my head
  11. Thanks Tom. Sophia, do the two fish in the images appear to be a male and a female to you? One is paler and fatter, the other is slim and colourful.

    The What's Up? thread.

Whoops I meant Jack not Cam, still getting used to foruming on my phone

Yeah Jack I'm going to have to go with Steve on this one, a choice under pressure is a choice nonetheless.

    The What's Up? thread.

If the people who want to use it in that way know the risks associated with that, they're only harming themselves. I'd be okay with that if it didn't make me pay more taxes :an!gry
  15. 6500k energy saver aka cool daylight. Philips 20W are plenty for most tanks, consider CO2 too dude. HTH.
  16. Probably the same guy. So today I've noticed some interesting behaviour. A fatter fish was wiggling in some moss with a thinner one close behind, spawning perhaps? But most noticeably two males(?) dancing with each other and zipping around the tank. They're very fast so the quality of my photos is average at best. Any WCMM experts able to confirm this?

Yeah I see clear coat tagging all the time
  18. They're totally underrated fish, I'll admit I did look past them at the pet shop because they look so washed out in their tanks but their lateral stripe is an awesome iridescent rainbow colour. A large shoal is a must with these guys!
  19. Thanks dude, it's hard not to heavily photoshop all of my pics :nilly:
  20. The ponds won't have been too cold lately, I'll freeze some bags now though
  21. And we already have a jumper! Luckily I popped it back in and all seems to be fine
  22. Thanks Joe, they're like mini rainbow trout in person and the large school looks fantastic. They are perfect for this tank, another 300mm on the end would be nice though. Technically Papakura but right on the boundary, do you know the man?
  23. So here they are, 20 of them for $40 off TradeMe with two more thrown in for free  These guys were bred alongside goldfish in a large outdoor pond, they seem to be enjoying themselves in this tank though. And this little guy I'm tempted to call "Leela"
  24. Sounds like another OEM Chinese brand. I prefer Sunsun myself but they all seem to be about the same.
  25. I was just watching The Force earlier, cop pulled up a woman for expired rego and license. Next thing you know, large flat deck truck brakes heavily and almost hits the queue of rush hour traffic. After that, another driver gawking at the incident on the side causes a 5 car pile up. Cop takes a break from the first incident to assist with the pile up. Once that's all cleaned up, she goes back to the expired rego car. Not 5 minutes after another nose to tail
