  1. It's 1200mm long, 400mm wide and 400mm high, only 192L but it's the biggest that fits in that space. Thanks! I just need large enough rocks and the perfect plants to pull it off.
  2. Some of you may remember this very aquarium from its previous thread. However, since emptying it I have had the left side bracing adjusted to fit the pipes I want on the side. Here's the plan. Lighting, T5HO double unit 6500k tubes. May upgrade to another unit if needed in the future. Filtration, 2x Sunsun HW-302 1000lph canister filters, both with lily pipes and one with inline diffuser and heater. CO2, pressurised 7kg cylinder with inline diffuser. Substrate, yet to be decided. Hardscape, yet to be collected, aiming for large, strong and unique rocks. Planning to have this running by the end of the month so stay tuned folks!
  3. There's a couple that are definitely larger, I'm guessing those are the girls. Around 3-4 males are constantly showing off to each other so I know I have a good mix 8)
  4. Just playing around with a couple of things, hard to get focus and the glass wasn't clean either oops
  5. Ninja'd by Ira Just hit the quote button on Iras post and you'll see what he wrote and how it's different to yours. There's always improvements that can be made, especially to a hex tank. They are notoriously difficult to aquascape but you've got the right idea. If it were my tank, I'd keep the front open and put the tall plants at the back.
  6. 400L is going to be relatively expensive no matter what you do with it, budget dictates the end result really. Do you mean you have a light unit with 4 tubes in it? Knowing the size and power of these tubes is important.
  7. Welcome back! Waiting for the fish jealousy of all the species we can't get here.
  8. Welcome to the Fishroom! What I like to do when starting a new tank is find photos of aquariums I like online. If you show us photos or sites that you'd like to imitate, we can help out. Also, it's useful to add your location via the User Control Panel in the top right corner of your page so local members can lend a helping hand.
  9. It's a bit harder because there's no existing wiring to go on and you'd have to make the holes yourself. I'd be searching Youtube for that sort of thing.
  10. If they're in the door cards you'll probably have to remove those to find out what size they are then.
  11. Are you sure the only speakers are in the front doors? Usually there's a couple of rears too. The size is whatever fits, I just replaced my 5w stock speakers with some 25w, same size just more power. Subs are fun too but then you need a box, amp, wiring, etc.

    The What's Up? thread.

1200x400x400 in 6mm, I'm not too confident and can't cut glass to save myself so off for a professional job. Plus it's in the lounge so it has to look perfect

    The What's Up? thread.

I'm really fussy (if you didn't already know) about the placement of equipment in my tanks. The current bracing on the tank is not suitable for my needs so I'm getting it professionally rebraced to suit my needs 8)

Fish moved, tank empty and ready to be sent off 8)
  15. I did have it in IMG brackets but the site doesn't support hotlinking, wait a while and you'll see what I mean.

Three if you count my large shrimping net. Just helped move some stuff around the garage, will get into this very shortly! Wish me luck people.

Lucky you Caryl! I'm having scrambled eggs on toast before I spend the better part of today moving all my fish (neons, platys, guppies, various fry, fighters and GBA) from my 4ft into my AA tank. I hate catching fish :nilly:
  18. How big is the largest of those rocks? It would pay to read one of the many aquascaping articles detailing how rocks are best placed. This one is my favourite.

Sodastream just adds another level of complexity. I found that each cylinder was slightly different so I had to add extra O rings to make up for this yet still I got leaks every time. Luckily I have a fair bit of thread tape and determination  Having a big cylinder removes the adaptor part, straight regulator to cylinder making it a hell of a lot easier. Sodastream is cheaper initially when on a budget and certainly a viable option for smaller aquariums, but no way can it ever replace large cylinders for anything much over 60L.

I like to think so! I don't think I could have shelled out $250 for the cylinder if I couldn't see cool stuff like that in action

Got a 7kg cylinder today, here's a quick vid with the sort of CO2 I usually pump out without fish.

I was having issues with getting enough pressure out of the cylinder, I think there was a leak somewhere so I fiddled with the CO2 regulator. I thought it wasn't working so I left home but the valve was fully open. When I returned, the cylinder was pumping out huge amounts of gas into the tank so I shut it off and haven't used it since. Anyways, here's a photo of the tank as it currently stands.
