  1. It sounds like enough to me, just try a couple of different flow patterns when you get them to see what works best for both fauna and flora

Planning on a bit of a bigger set up around the middle of this year, same filter, more CO2, similar lights, etc. The CO2 gassed a fair few of my fish so I cut it off and needed the cylinder on my iwagumi. Yet to decide if I will keep this tank with the stock hood on it for a super low tech rig.
  3. Haven't checked in a while but was around 23-25 throughout Summer, maxing at 27 but not falling below 17 even with ice.
  4. All going well, will post pics after this weeks water change.

Moderate growth, bit of algae due to lack of CO2, shutting down soon.
  6. Inline diffusers are champion! They get very misty 8)
  7. It sounds like there's air in the filter. Firstly, are you sure it's not drawing air into the filter? If so, is there any way you can flush the air that gets trapped in there out of the filter? Perhaps pumping some water in there with a siphon hose and blowing water into it.
  8. All of those state maximum flow for the pumps, Eheim accounts for filter media etc but it won't be 640l/h. I estimate my pumps run at about half of what they claim to run so just remember that when buying pumps in future. As for wavemakers, I buy mine off fish-street.com right here.
  9. Do you have enough flow and mechanical filtration? Ideally all leaves should be moving.
  10. If the canister is sealed it can't run dry, can it? I'd just replace the impeller myself
  11. Never had to do this myself but I don't see why you couldn't. Same idea, just the motor is in a different location. I'd run it so it sucks water through the filter rather than push it.
  12. So you've isolated the issue as substrate then?
  13. Because IME, the cause of most algae issues is a lack of CO2. Any tank I don't run CO2 on gets algae, it's that simple. I do get a bit of algae when starting a new tank or from direct sunlight even with CO2 but that's easily fixed. Sort the CO2 and you should be algae free.
  14. This method can be useful but it depends both what type of algae you have and what's causing it. No real one size fits all for algae but I can almost guarantee a lack of CO2 is responsible in this tank.
  15. Spot treating BBA with Excel is the bees knees apparently, never tried it myself though. Green stringy algae can be wrapped around a chopstick quite easily. Just be patient when refilling, slow hose onto a dish if needed.
  16. What sort of algae is it? If I were you, I'd thoroughly clean all the sides, remove as much as you can from the plants and decor as possible then do a 50-75% water change. Reduce lighting hours down to 4-6hrs at most.
  17. Is the tank still in direct sunlight?

    Hi there!

I thought it was a bit quiet around here! Since the 27th of Feb actually, maybe we should start a "Days without F15hguy" counter?
  20. Are you sure it's not like that one? It's highly likely it's that one. Here's a slightly better image, four prongs you see?
  21. Low tech densely planted leaf fish tank.

At work, couple of people felt it but most didn't. Hoping that's all we get!

Don't tell me they somehow flipped it on it's side like that, surely the fire crew moved it yeah?
